Story
When the naked body of a teenage girl is found on a riverbank in Basque Country, Spain, homicide inspector Amaia Salazar must return to the hometown she always sought to escape. A dark secret from Amaia's past plagues her with nightmares, and as her investigation deepens, the old pagan beliefs of the community threaten to derail her astute detective work. The lines between mythology and reality begin to blur, and Amaia must discover whether the crimes are the work of a ritualistic killer or of a mythical creature known as the Basajaun, the Invisible Guardian.

Terrible choice of narrator
Reviewed: 03-26-19
It is a book with Spanish names and places the person should be of Latino heritage. The story is great. I like Dolores Redondo and her descriptive tales. Poor choice of narration; it would have been even better and more engaging

Story
Jen and Hugh Maddox have just survived every parent’s worst nightmare. They sit by the hospital bedside of their 15-year-old daughter, Lana, who was found bloodied, bruised, and disoriented after going missing for four days during a vacation. As Lana lies mute in the bed, unwilling or unable to articulate what happened to her during that period, the national media speculates wildly. Without telling Hugh or their pregnant older daughter, Jen sets off to retrace Lana’s steps, a journey that will lead her to a deeper understanding of her youngest daughter, her family, and herself.

Story
Eric disappeared when he was three years old. Ben looked away for only a second at the grocery store, but that was all it took. His brother was gone. Vanished right into the sticky air of the Florida Panhandle. They say you've got only a couple days to find a missing person. Forty-eight hours to conduct searches, knock on doors, and talk to witnesses. Two days to tear the world apart if there's any chance of putting yours back together. That's your window. That window closed five years ago, leaving Ben's life in ruins.

great relatable story

I was drawn in to how Ben never was at ease and how the disappearance of Eric was never over. backwater needs to be a book all it's own. I'm an aspiring writer and I love the segues. bravo
