Great performance, fair story

I love the idea of PKD more than I like his work... I keep forgetting this. If you like Dick, this is probably gonna blow your wig back... Darkly is by no means a bad book, which is why I give it 3 stars... it’s better than most.
Giamatti ruled on the reading, which made this definitely above average.

Story
“Long live the King” hailed Entertainment Weekly upon publication of Stephen King’s On Writing. Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer’s craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King’s advice is grounded in his vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999—and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery.

Story
Down the road from a working-class British pub, along the brick wall of a narrow alley, if the conditions are exactly right, you'll find the entrance to Slade House. A stranger will greet you by name and invite you inside. At first, you won't want to leave. Later, you'll find that you can't. Every nine years, the house's residents - an odd brother and sister - extend a unique invitation to someone who's different or lonely: a precocious teenager, a recently divorced policeman, a shy college student. But what really goes on inside Slade House? For those who find out, it's already too late....

It’s... fine.

That’s about it... it’s fine, it started strong and I was into the concept, then it lost me.
Lots of exposition and a real lack of leaving much of anything to the readers imagination. It’s written well, but... just not for me.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

It was free, short, and Quinto really gave a great read! Honestly this story isn’t gonna change your life, but it served its purpose... sometimes a story is just an escape.
