So relaxing and interesting. It was a
little slow going for me because I wanted to look up all the birds, plants, trees, etc. I loved this book and Monty’s voice is perfect. Thank you Monty for all that you do and present.

I love Charles’ detective work and thoughts he shares.
The slavery parts remind me of our country’s shameful history were heartbreaking all because of greedy old white men.
The author always does a good job of wrapping up the story and the narrator is wonderful. I would listen to this whole series over again!

Every time Bill Bryson walks out the door, memorable travel literature threatens to break out. His previous excursion on the Appalachian Trail resulted in the best seller A Walk in the Woods. Now, we follow him "Down Under" to Australia with this delectably funny, fact-filled, and adventurous performance that combines humor, wonder, and unflagging curiosity. More from Bill Bryson.

Author droned on during the boring bits. I thoroughly enjoyed
A Walk in the Woods much better than this one and the narrator was much better in that book than the author’s monotone narration. I had to fast forward through several parts. Disappointing

Thank goodness I had downloaded this audio book just before our electricity when out from a bad storm. It was most entertaining for a couple days until the electricity came back on.
These books always keep me guessing who the baddy is until the end and then Mr. Finch ties up any loose ends.
I love the feel of these books and the images they bring to mind like when describing the countryside, etc…

Unrealistic and annoying tone of voice by narrator.
Reviewed: 05-25-23
I really wanted to like this book but the narrator has a nasally, whiny, high pitched voice and the story line is unbelievable. If the main character would just finish her sentences and get a spine that would help the storyline. Could only bear a few chapters and had to quit.

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

So glad to have Harry’s story from his perspective. He’s such a strong person to have gone through so much and come out decent, kind and sane. Sometimes it made me want to hug Harry & Meg and remind them of what Michelle Obama said, ‘when they go low, we go high’ and that it will be okay one day… Riveting!

Tried listening to this story two different times but it was so grindingly boring, ugh! Audible makes you give at least one star in each category but wanted to give it zero stars for Overall and minus zero for Story.
Gave three stars for the narrator, she did an ok job. The plot was so dull and slow going I couldn’t listen this book. Certainly doesn’t grab you from the start.

Story
Abigail Sutton's beloved husband walks out one night, doesn't return, and two years later is found dead, a victim of a long ago crime. It's made her sympathetic to the missing and their families. Starting her new life, Abigail moves to small town and buys a fixer-upper house left empty when old Edna Summers died. Once it was also home to Edna's younger sister, Emily, and her two children, Jenny and Christopher, who, people believe, drove away one night, thirty years ago, and just never came back.

Chose this book because I like mysteries and I loved Wendy Tremont King’s narration of the Shelby Nichols stories by Colleen Helme but this story was so agonizingly monotone and predictable that I skipped through most of of the book to the end. No more books for me by this author.
