Story
Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father's inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty - until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. Hardening her heart, the young woman sets out to claim what is owed and soon gains a reputation for being able to turn silver into gold. When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk - grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh - Miryem's fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of writing, character development, and plot that kept twisting and turning (in such a way that I kept looking to see how many chapters were left of this book to figure out how things could resolve! ). I've read far too many fantasy novels in my life, and they start to blur together. This one really stands out. The narrator did a fabulous job reading and engaging with the accents adding not detracting from the story.

Story
Elizabeth Cage is a child when she discovers that there are things in this world that only she can see. But she doesn't want to see them, and she definitely doesn't want them to see her. What is a curse to Elizabeth is a gift to others - a very valuable gift they want to control. When her husband dies, Elizabeth's world descends into a nightmare. But as she tries to piece her life back together, she discovers that not everything is as it seems.

Decent story, fun twists, odd ending.

What did you like best about this story?
I would have given a 5 star on the story, but the ending is so odd, I felt a bit disappointed. Don't read the last chapter, and I think it's a wonderful book, a little spooky, a little espionage, a little mystery.

Story
Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

Mediocre with flat characters

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This story was very formulaic, the characters don't invite your interest, and while I was curious how it would resolve, not engaged enough to finish the book after several hours of listening.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The voices are too carictures. Not unpleasant, but not believable.

Story
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

What did you love best about The Wise Man's Fear?
WOnderful character development by the author, great voice by the narrator.
Any additional comments?
Be wary, this is an unfinished series as of 9/2017... a series this good with no sequel in sight is a bit painful for me. It is well written and beautifully developed, a bit Harry Potter a bit epic tale, but very much incomplete.

Story
Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances.

This book felt a lot like "Stand by Me" telling stories of betrayals instead of growing loyalties. I thought the concept of the horns was fantastic, his wry humor made me laugh out loud, and then we divergered from a great storyline to fragments that wear you down. The ending was so disappointing, that I will recommend you just skip the last section. Too bad, it had merit.
