Story
I was born and broken in Birkenhead, abused from infancy by a network of every kind of pervert from ‘thinks it’s love’ to ‘show it hurts’. I was unwanted, beaten, sold, swapped, photographed, filmed, left for dead, corrupted, blamed, betrayed, ignored and orphaned. But I was also born with a fire inside me. I call it my Phoenix Fire. I am no victim—that word only describes what happened to me. Nor am I a survivor because that implies I am over it. I am a Phoenix—a work in progress. This is my story....

A completely unbelievable story. Loved it! Had a hard time putting it down. I loved the comment about how she isn't a survivor because she will forever every day be trying to live well.

Story
When veteran LAPD homicide detective Steve Hodel discovered that his own late father, Dr. George Hill Hodel, was the killer in the infamous Black Dahlia murder case, he wrote the best seller Black Dahlia Avenger, a book that convinced even the L.A. County Deputy District Attorney that George Hodel was responsible for Elizabeth Short's gruesome death.

I LOVED the Black Dahlia Avenger and was hoping for more of the same. The topic is pretty intense and I did not like the more theatrical performance of this narrator. I appreciated the theory regarding the Link to other notorious killers but largely a lot of the meat of this story was the same as the BDA.

The narrator sounds like she needs a drink you can hear her mouth sticking together.
Some very predictable, I hate, hate the ending. She magically figures it out then still doesn’t do the right thing. Why can nothing good come out of this. Not a fan
