Worst. Romance. Ever

Overall
1 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 11-27-10

This has got to be THE WORST book I've ever read. The saddest part is, the actual story idea was very good and the synopsis sounded really interesting. But when a 5th grader could have written it better, it doesn't matter how good the idea is. I wanted to love this book, I really did, but the characters were so flat and the plot was missing so many details. I almost didn't finish this book. If you're looking for good "historical" romances, try Allison Weir or Philippa Gregory. I wish I hadn't wasted the credit.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, Book Three) Audiobook By Suzanne Collins cover art

A somewhat unsatisfactory ending to a dark series

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 09-09-10

I've had conflicting feelings about this entire series. There have been many points where I've found myself starting to cry but since I've been reading between calls at work, I couldn't let myself! "Mockingjay" especially has been absolutely heartbreaking. I'm kind of wondering if the author has any love or empathy for her characters at all. There were a lot of seemingly pointless deaths and cruelties throughout this story, so much so that I almost couldn't finish. Just when there is a tantalizing hope of happiness, it's snatched away by yet another death or twist.

If you've read "The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" you have to read "Mockingjay" if for no other reason than to seek some kind of closure, but be prepared to be left...wanting.
