Kelvin Wiltshire lives the life of a simple cook in a remote village on the far side of Trendham. The townsfolk think little of the man and his son and believe him to be just another refugee from the Terabinian war. On cold winter nights, they share rumors of the bloody conflict and the mysterious death of Will Cartwright, the mighty mage who had the power to command storms. They like the new cook. They fear the fallen king. But the two men are one and the same.

A meandering mess.
Reviewed: 07-09-24
This novel was all over the place with nowhere to go. Barely discernable plot line, stilted dialogue and all around pretty purposeless.

Story
Cameron Winter was born with the ability to recreate detailed crime scenes in his imagination and dissect the motives and encounters that produced them. And after reading a puzzling news story about a wealthy family killed in a small town in the Chicago suburbs, he can't resist the chance to apply this deductive power in the pursuit of justice for the victims. Three members of the family, along with their live-in nanny, were pulled from their burning mansion, already dead from gunshot wounds. The only survivor is a young boy whose memory of the event raises more questions than answers.

Good storyline, too much bad language
Reviewed: 02-07-19
I read the Josie Quinn series and loved them so thought I’d try more from this author. This has a good storyline, but I couldn’t finish it because of the constant use of the f word and the degrading way of talking about sexual intercourse. Just not something I want to fill my mind with and in my opinion, unnecessary. Would have liked to finish it but not worth my time to read/hear such filth.

Great Story, Bad Narration. Fire Dick Hill.
Reviewed: 10-09-15
What made the experience of listening to Contract to Kill the most enjoyable?
The Plot. The Story. Had to fight through the awful narration.
What other book might you compare Contract to Kill to and why?
any badass spy/assassin stuff for grownups.
What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?
Dick Hill can't do voices beyond the Gumshoe PI. He's terribly miscast. He makes all females and ethic characters sound mentally deficient. It is awful.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Dick Hill makes my head want to explode.
Any additional comments?
Bronson Pinchot or someone similar would have been so much better.

Retired Marine sniper Jack Coughlin and John Bruning pull back the curtain of secrecy to take an insider's look at the dark and misunderstood world of America's sniper force. Long considered the redheaded stepchildren of the infantry, snipers have been loathed by their fellow warriors, called "ten cent killers" by our media, and portrayed as unbalanced psychopaths by Hollywood.

Great story :,not so great narration

Sanderson is brilliant. Highly creative. Few do fantasy better. Just wish the narration has been up to this standard. Seemed like it was an amateur effort. Or maybe a first. In any event, it hurt the story.
