Story
Sick of being overlooked, underpaid, and unappreciated, Brian Jackson decides he's done playing "the good guy" and is ready for a ride on the wild side. But this ride might be a little more than he ever bargained for. After a night at a seedy strip club and an encounter with an uninhibited stripper, Brian finds himself in a world of danger and deceit. Instead of running back to his safe world of button-downs and khakis, Brian delves deeper into a life of crime. Now it's time for the newfound badass to take the reins of Tampa Bay.

So bad I can’t even finish
Reviewed: 09-12-23
This might be the first time I’ve ever done this, but this is so bad. I thought I was downloading Hiroko Oyamada’s book from a NYT Book Review recommendation. My mistake. I can’t even listen to this trash.

Story
Back when restaurant menus were still printed on paper, and wearing a mask—or not—was a decision made mostly on Halloween, David Sedaris spent his time doing normal things. As Happy-Go-Lucky opens, he is learning to shoot guns with his sister, visiting muddy flea markets in Serbia, buying gummy worms to feed to ants, and telling his nonagenarian father wheelchair jokes. But then the pandemic hits, and like so many others, he’s stuck in lockdown, unable to tour and read for audiences, the part of his work he loves most.

Great book, classic DS

After listening to A Carnival of Snackery, I was craving more. I downloaded as soon as available, but fear the digital version wasn’t as carefully edited/screened prior to release as normally as a written book might be. Found lots of repeats and skips throughout. I don’t know if it’s a recording error or software glitch, but I haven’t experienced this with any other audio books.
