If i want to know about GD’s famous friends, I’ll read their books. This is a snooze.

I had to stop. Way too depressing. I usually like BK, but just couldn’t hang with this one. Narrator is fine.

This one is not as good as the other titles. It's repetitive and the narration is dull.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Had this been the O. Henry Story!

Any additional comments?

Slouching Towards Bethlehem Audiobook By Joan Didion cover art

Great essays, poorly read

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I loved these essays when I first read them in the 70s and was happy to hear them again.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Didion's prose.

What didn’t you like about Diane Keaton’s performance?

Pretty much everything. She mispronounces a LOT of words and it becomes insulting to the material and the listener.

Could you see Slouching Towards Bethlehem being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

This is unutterably boring, and there's so much of it! It's not just the hours of editorial commentary, but Clemens himself. OMG. Save your money. Reread Huck Finn. You have to give a review at least one star, which explains how it got that.
