Story
In Shameless, Brian Tyler Cohen lays bare the long con of the modern Republican Party. While the radical right continues hiding behind gaslighting maneuvers, artificial slogans, and hollow catchphrases, Cohen’s unflinching narrative illuminates the realities and dangers of the ever-widening gulf between the vaunted Republican brand and their actual behavior.

Bravo! I learned a lot.

Thanks for helping me to understand why the right has become what it has become. I have lifelong Republicans in my family and things have not always been so divisive. This book has brought some order to some of my confusion. Well done!

Story
One of five children, Pat watched as her alcoholic mother struggled to get by on charity, cons, and petty crimes. At age seven, Pat was taught to roll drunks for money. At 12, she was targeted for sex by a man eight years her senior; by 13, she was pregnant. By 15, Pat was a mother of two. Alone at 16, Pat was determined to make a better life for her children. But with no job skills and an eighth-grade education, her options were limited. She learned quickly that hustling and humor were the only tools she had to survive.

Honest, heartbreaking and delivered with care.

Miss Pat tells her story from such a place of strength and vulnerability. I was enthralled as I envisioned her life in front of my eyes. There were times that I laughed and times that I cried. A woman who has always had a big heart and still does, Miss Pat you inspire me to see people from my heart. Thank you.

Story
Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives. In Daring Greatly, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on 12 years of research, her book argues that vulnerability is not weakness but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

Yikes! I can't listen to this!

I love this book, I read it in hard cover when it was released. I love Brené; why didn't she read it? Her voice is needed here. The reader displays no connection to the stories or to the content. I can't stand listening anymore. I will be returning this audiobook. I really wanted to re-read it in audio format. Bummer!

Stunning!

This beautifully written story grabbed me and pulled me along all the bumpy roads all the way to the end. The performance of the reader gave me a clear illustration of all the many characters that come in and out of the picturesque scenes. I don't know what I can possibly listen to next, maybe nothing..... for a while, anyway.
