The plot of I am pilgrim was good, but the dialogue was sup-par. Too many cliches and a main character that is not particularly likable. Groan-inducing phrases like, "you are the best agent in a generation' were too common. Also disliked the boyish narration of Ragland.

A very fine detective novel. One of the best of this genre that I have ever read/listened to. Watch out Michael Connelly and James Lee Burke, you have some new competition from Stephen King :)

One of the best crime novels I have ever experienced. This can be favorably compared to the best of Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, John Sanford and Henning Mankell. A powerful, emotional ending that will remain with me.

Excellent mystery from Scandinavia. Shares a lot of similarities with Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Both are excellent.

Fairly interesting story about human-like monsters. But if I was to summarize Nocturnal > B-Grade Lincoln and Child.

The idea behind this alternate history book was very interesting and all the performances of the narrators are fine.. However, Card's writing just is not that gripping. I never felt the urge to continue listening for long periods in order to find out what was next.

I'm about 3 hours into this book and it's not very good. The plot is interesting but Ellis is simply not a very talented writer. Dialogues are often ham-handed and his attempts at humor are groan-inducing. Not sure if I will even finish this one.

Fidelity is an excellent story. Perry has great ability to convey realistic dialog. Although the narrator has a unique (somewhat old-fashioned) style that may seem strange at the beginning, by the end of the novel I had actually come to enjoy his narration.

This is the best detective novel I have listened to since I finished the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. McKinty's writing is very strong with a lyrical tone that is enhanced by the wonderful Irish lilt of Gerard Doyle's narration. McKinty's dialogue is sharp and often hilarious. Overall, this is a superb book where the listener also learns a lot about the history and troubles of Northern Ireland. 5 stars!

This story, as with most of Grisham's books, was very good. It drags a bit mid-way through but it finishes with a powerful conclusion. If you've enjoyed Grisham in the past, I'm sure you will be happy with Sycamore Row.
