Binged this pod
Reviewed: 07-24-24
I started listing last year after hearing Aly on Monsters Among Us. I immediately found Let's Get Haunted and started and episode. After that first episode I went back to the first show posted and started listening until I was done listening to the entire catalog. Their growth as people and as podcasters was clear. I love their off the wall open minded approach to topics. However, they still put in the leg work to dig out the facts and details. I have listened to a lot of podcasts on similar subjects, but found that even when they were covering a topic that I was super familiar with, they would pull out some bit of information that I had not heard yet. It is a fun show with interesting topics. Every entertaining over all. Also, if you don't like the topic of the episode just try another one. Each episode is a new experience. Highly recommend if you want a good laugh and some entertaining banter on haunted subjects.

Jennifer Hale makes this worth listening to
Reviewed: 12-08-20
I have to be honest I only bought this book for the Jennifer Hale narration. In that area I was not disappointed at all. Her performance was great! I would begin to get a little overwhelmed by this book at times, but I kept listening because of the great narration. She really brings the characters to life. Her performance enhanced the overall story by adding a layer of emersion. The story overall is interesting, but I did find that at time it could get a little tedious. In the end it was definitely worth the listen, but I would probably not listen again. I really hope that Jennifer Hale starts narrating more audiobooks for Audible!

As an avid hiker I really enjoyed the descriptions of the mountains and wilderness. I have to admit that I did see the ending coming from pretty early on, but it did not detract from the overall romance/story. Abby Craden is a great narrator and I found myself sucked in. I listened straight through. Worth a listen if you like Gerri Hill's work!

Story
Park ranger Kyler Clemons had loved the vibe and the beach of Mustang Island. Getting caught with her boss’ wife, however, got her transferred to the wild and remote Davis Mountains State Park - in the middle of nowhere. Now after four years, she’s forgotten about the beach and has embraced the mountain life, feeling like a local. She hangs out at the Cottonwood Creek Bar and Grill. She watches football with Mark Walton. She’s taken up birdwatching and stargazing. She is perfectly content. No stress. No drama. And no desire to date. Then Lexie Walton waltzes into her life.

I have been binging Gerri Hill's work. I started with the crime/detective novels. I really enjoy that combo of romance and mystery. So I wasn't sure if I would enjoy a pure romance novel. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy the listen. Abby Craden is a great narrator. The characters are enjoyable. The romance is sweet. As always Gerri Hill does a wonderful job of setting the wilderness scene, but I am just not a huge fan of pure romance. Throw in a good mystery or something paranormal and I am in.

I tend to like novels set in other time periods or other worlds. I was skeptical that I was going to like this book at first, because it was set in a modern environment, however I found myself drawn into the story early on and by the end of the book I couldn’t stop listening.

If you could sum up UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record in three words, what would they be?
UFO's do exist
What other book might you compare UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record to and why?
It would be hard to compare other UFO books to this one. Leslie Kean has collected story from top ranking officials and highly trained observers.
What does Heather Henderson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narrations was well done
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
I never realized that other countries are more open to reporting UFO's. In the US there is a huge taboo about reporting. Some countries even have offices specifically tasked to deal with these reports.

If you could sum up Surviving Death in three words, what would they be?
Survival of Consciousness
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Leslie Kean does a really wonderful job of putting in the hard work and research to back up everything that is written in this book. Her addition of personal experiences in combination give you a sense that she has thought very deeply about the subject. As a reader this aspect drew me into the story and left room for my own beliefs about the subject while expanding my understanding.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The change in narrator during the chapters written by different authors was extremely helpful. You clearly understood who was speaking.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The stories about children who remember their past lives is particularly interesting.
Any additional comments?
The sections about mediums was fascinating. I didn't realize that there were still physical mediums today. I had assumed this was a sort of fad from the past. Very interesting!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. If you are playing Mass Effect Andromeda this book really enhances the story. Giving you a glimpse into the life aboard the nexus before you arrive. There is a lot of talk about the uprising, but this gives you the perspective of the people involved while it was happening.
What did you like best about this story?
Learning the back story of some of the major players in Mass Effect Andromeda
Which character – as performed by Fryda Wolff – was your favorite?
Sloan Kelly
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Any additional comments?
Fryda Wolff did a great job narrating this book. I am playing the female Ryder character and it was a lot of fun to hear the narration match my game play experience.
