As usual these two authors provide a truly outstanding listening experience. Just as they have done in their other books they provide a vibrant description of a character whose life has been characterized more in tv than in historical fact.
Tremendous narrator providing insight that is compelling and interesting.
I buy every book written by Drury and Clavin

Story
Having inspired a classic film and Broadway play, The Caine Mutiny is Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life—and mutiny—on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater. It was immediately embraced upon its original publication as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of the Second World War. In the intervening half century, this gripping story has become a perennial favorite, selling millions throughout the world, and claiming the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

Any narrator owes the listener enough research to properly pronounce places and terms central to the story.
Especially nautical terms are necessarily pronounced else they severely distract from the story. Naval terms are time honored but this narration destroys the story by poor preparation and lack of professional treatment of the story.
By books end the grating of his massive mistakes almost destroys the listen

Story
The Open Range cattle era lasted barely a quarter-century, but it left America irrevocably changed. These few decades following the Civil War brought America its greatest boom-and-bust cycle until the Depression, the invention of the assembly line, and the dawn of the conservation movement. It inspired legends, such as that icon of rugged individualism, the cowboy. Yet this extraordinary time and its import have remained unexamined for decades. Cattle Kingdom reveals the truth of how the West rose and fell, and how its legacy defines us today.

Pronunciation is important
Reviewed: 04-30-23
Nothing kills a good listen quicker than a narrator who doesn't do his research. I hope no Japanese citizen listens to this book because they will cringe with frequent and repeated mispronunciation of Japanese cities cited in the book.
Since this is a Navy book, it would also help immensely if the narrator learned how to correctly pronounce basic Navy terms. Narration style also took a lot of getting "used to it".

The Ultimate Battle is the full story of the largest land-sea-air battle ever waged by the United States, a battle whose staggering casualties and take-no-prisoners ferocity led Truman to drop the atomic bomb on Japan. From April through June 1945, more than 250,000 American and Japanese lives were lost, including those of nearly 150,000 civilians who either committed suicide or were caught in the crossfire. This book tells a gripping story of heroism, sacrifice, and death.

If you wish to enjoy a scary book, this fits the bill. If you’re looking to embrace your inner social dominance and virtue signaling about all things objectionable, real, or imagined, l suggest you leave this one alone.
Not every book is intended as a SJW platform. Some just try to scare the bejesus out of you.
Some make you think about hard decisions as you enjoy a literary “trip”. Try not to overlay your simmering liberalists demand for dominance in thought and deed. Just enjoy the book for what it is.

Story
Jack Wade, a claims adjuster for California Fire and Life Mutual Insurance Company, is one of the best arson investigators around. He's a man who knows fire, who can read the traces it leaves behind like a roadmap. When he's called in to examine an unusual claim, the tracks of the fire tell him that something's wrong. So wrong that he violates his own cardinal rule - "You don't get personal, you don't get emotional. Whatever you do, you don't get involved" - and plunges into the case.
