Story
There are whispers about what lurks in Witch Knell—the forest where sinners go to die. The villagers call it The Eating Woods because what's taken is never given back. Only those who've lost their senses would dare to go near it. Or the banished. Maevyth Bronwick knows better than to breach the misty labyrinth of trees, but a tragic turn of events compels her beyond the archway of bones to a boundary no mortal has crossed before. One that cloaks a dark and fantastical world that's as dangerous as it is alluring. It's there that he dwells, the cursed lord of Eidolon.

Can’t wait for book 2 . This has the best sexy funny banter between the main characters. Although the most irritating side character ever exists in this book which is the sister.
However I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a new interesting magical system with great character development.

I loved this book so much that it surprised me in every chapter. The storyline was exciting, the banter, the slow burn love, the characters development, the cliffhanger OMG THE FREAKING CLIFFHANGER 🤯. I can’t wait for the second book like I needed it yesterday before I even finished this book 😂

I disliked the narrators
Reviewed: 07-02-25
The narrators were so overly dramatic and exaggerated in their pronunciation especially the female narrator.
The story could have been good and would have made me go for book 2 but not with that pronunciation.

This is the first book that had a bad audio graphic sound that I truly disliked and couldn’t complete. Not sure exactly what prompted the dislike of this book was it the unorganized writing or the monotone reading of the narrator.
I loved other books by the same author but this was a bad book in terms of writing style.

Pretty cute story

The main characters were adorable and sweet but their vocabulary was a bit annoying because of the repetitive words .
The last bit was a cute attempt at a cliffhanger but this book could be a stand alone story too which is completely fine by me.

Story
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.
