I read this book when it first came out and liked it. I read pretty much anything Kristen Ashley puts out. The story is heartwarming and as with any good book, has places that hit you right in the feels. It does have plenty of sex scenes so if you have a problem with that, move along.

Why so many bad reviews?

I was worried that this one was going to suck because there were so many bad reviews. Now I can't figure out why. I thought it was cute. Standard friends to lovers, nothing amazingly spectacular, but it certainly didn't warrant all the one and two star reviews I read.

I wasn't sure what was going on most of the time, this may have been by design but that's not my cup of tea. I didn't get where the characters were coming from, like their reactions to things were off to me and that could be me projecting what my reactions would be on to the characters. Either way this is just an opinion and I didn't hate the book either so there you go.

That was probably the most abrupt ending to a book I've ever read. The rest of the story was good.

I read some pretty harsh reviews and was concerned but it seems like they blew some things out of proportion.
I thought it was a cute story. I listen to about 8 books a week so I'm not too fussy about some things. It was an easy listen while I was doing other things.

Lani - Mia
Rush - Gear
Tabby - Tatiana
BeBe - Candy
Dragon - Snake
Homes in the mountains, restored cars for the kids, BFF in trouble, similar back story of cleaning up the club, older guy(s) hit the daughter. Too many similarities.
Even some of the things that the main characters say to each other echo word said in Motorcycle Man.
It would have been a good story if I hadn't already read Motercyle Man and thus read the story already.

Not much else needs to be said. I haven't read a Kristen Ashley book I didn't like and she is the only author I reread on a regular basis. I have several of her books as ebooks AND audibles, same titles in both media.
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this one in the beginning, but I gave it a shot and of course, was not disappointed. I love her characters and the way she reveals them to the reader. They are relatable and for the most part, they don't feed on unnecessary drama like some other romance novel characters.
I dislike reviews that give away the story, so I'll just say I'm starting the next book now!

Almost Scared Away

I was almost scared away by some of the other reviews but I figured I could stop it if it really got that bad. There were comments about the narroration, I personally had no problem with it. I listen at 1.20x speed, so maybe that masked what some didn't care for.
I also saw reviews about the too vivid detail of the criminal activity, but I didn't feel like it was too much, I've read much worse things.
Lastly, several reviews said that there was an over the top and unnecessary amount of sex scenes and again, I have read a lot of books with a lot more scenes, a lot more detail, and a lot more... other stuff so I personally didn't think there was all that much. I like a story where I can't anticipate the plot in the first couple pages, and though I caught on pretty early, this one had me not knowing longer than most.
I will say, if you have any hang ups or triggers, this may not be the book for you. But if you are looking for a romantic suspense novel, don't mind a bit of gore, then this may be the type of book you'd be interested in.
