Story
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Story
Pru and her husband, Christopher Pearse, are long overdue for a getaway. So when Pru is invited to redesign an Arts and Crafts garden in Cotswolds, she and Christopher jump at the chance. Unfortunately, their B&B is more ramshackle than charming, and the once thriving garden has fallen into neglect. With the garden's owner and designer, Batsford Bede, under the weather, Pru tackles the renovation alone. But just as she's starting to make headway, she stumbles upon Batsford's body in the garden - dead and pinned beneath one of his limestone statues.

Another great listen from Donna Andrews. Vampires, haunted houses and people sneaking around at night. And Meg caught right in the middle again! My favorite part in this book is when the boys decide Spike needs a costume and Spike lets them! Must read for people that enjoy this series as much as I do.

Story
Lisa and Joe Stone, married for 20 years and sole partners in their small law firm in Henry County, Virginia, handle less-than-glamorous cases: domestic disputes, personal injury settlements, or a plethora of complaints from their cantankerous client Lettie VanSandt. When she dies in a freakish incident, the Stones think it's within the realm of possibility that she was cooking meth in her trailer. But details soon emerge that lead them to question how accidental Lettie's demise actually was.

If you could sum up The Monogram Murders in three words, what would they be?
Sophie Hannah has done a wonderful job with this book. I finished it with the feeling that Poirot was just picking up where he had left us many years ago.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoyed the new introduction of Catch Poole( if I spelled that correctly). If there are more books to come he fits nicely with Poirot just as Captain Hastings did for so many years.
Which character – as performed by Julian Rhind-Tutt – was your favorite?
Narrator did a wonderful job with the entire book.
Any additional comments?
As a die hard Agatha fan I had reservations about this book and the proposal of someone else trying to bring back Agatha's characters. Especially this one. I had made up my mind not to purchase it in any form. I saw a review from Agatha's grandson I think it was and he was thrilled with the book so I thought okay, if the family is okay with this maybe I should give it a try. I hope after reading this from me you will also give this book a listen. Plot, characters, etc., etc. very unexpectedly good!

Story
Happily retired in the village of Three Pines, Armand Gamache, former Chief Inspector of Homicide with the Sûreté du Québec, has found a peace he'd only imagined possible. On warm summer mornings he sits on a bench holding a small book, The Balm in Gilead, in his large hands. "There is a balm in Gilead," his neighbor Clara Morrow reads from the dust jacket, "to make the wounded whole." While Gamache doesn't talk about his wounds and his balm, Clara tells him about hers. Peter, her artist husband, has failed to come home. Failed to show up as promised on the first anniversary of their separation. She wants Gamache's help to find him. Having finally found sanctuary, Gamache feels a near revulsion at the thought of leaving Three Pines. "There’s power enough in Heaven," he finishes the quote as he contemplates the quiet village, "to cure a sin-sick soul." And then he gets up. And joins her.

Where does The Long Way Home rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As usually Ms. Penny has out done herself. I don't want to give away any story spoilers so I will just say if you are a fan of this series, don't miss this one.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
All of Ms. Penny's books keep me on edge. Can't put them down and this one was no different. She brings you into Three Pines and into each character in a way I can't explain. They feel like family. I was happy to see in this book several characters that have struggled in the last couple of books have worked thru their demons and are thriving in this story.
What does Ralph Cosham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Ralph Cosham was perfect! Viva Gamache!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several areas of the story that moved me. The ending made me cry but also made me smile. But, again don't want to do a spoiler alert so won't tell you why.
Any additional comments?
If you have never listen to this series you must start with book 1. I think the book stands very well on its own but I also think you won't understand the characters, parts of the story and why they are important unless you start with book 1. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Already waiting for the next one!

Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is on break from duty in Three Pines to attend the famed Winter Carnival up north. He has arrived in this beautiful, freezing city not to join the revels but to recover from an investigation gone hauntingly wrong. Still, violent death is inescapable—even here, in the apparent sanctuary of the Literary and Historical Society, where one obsessive academic’s quest for answers will lead Gamache down a dark path.

Brilliant! I don't want to give the story away by saying too much. If you have not read or listened to “A Rule Against Murder” (book 5) I would suggest you do that before you do this one. “Bury Your Dead” contains a new murder, story, characters, but it also takes us back to the Hermit. Made me laugh. Made me cry. Absolutely wonderful! Ralph Cosham did a wonderful job narrating.
