Story
A plain envelope addressed to Mr. Sherlock Holmes has been delivered to 221B Baker Street. The stock is cheap and could have been purchased at any general shop. The hand, however, is rare for its graceful sweep and regularity. “A true technician,” Holmes noted. “Mr. Holmes,” it begins. “You don’t know me and I am a man of no importance to anyone except my employer, and he couldn’t function without my services. The voice of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Reviewed: 11-23-23
After a second novel by Larry Millet I am most impressed by his ability to so successfully mimic the voice of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and through it those of Holmes and Watson. Add good suspenseful tales and I really do feel like I've discovered lost treasure

Arthur Conan Doyle was the greatest genre writer Britain has ever produced. Throughout a long writing career, he drew on his own medical background, his travels, and his increasing interest in spiritualism and the occult to produce a spectacular array of Gothic tales. Many of Doyle's writings are recognized as the very greatest tales of terror. They range from hauntings in the polar wasteland to evil surgeons and malevolent jungle landscapes. This collection brings together over 30 of Conan Doyle's best Gothic tales
