Story
Golden Globe-winning actor Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

Story
First published between 1870 and 1893, Émile Zola’s 20-book cycle chronicling four generations of the Rougon-Macquarts was a shocking exposé of the decadence, degradation and moral decay of 19th-century France. It included some of his greatest novels, among them his masterpiece, Germinal. These innovative, ambitious dramas, first broadcast on Radio 4 over 24 hours in 2015-16, are a radical reimagining of Zola’s classic series, introducing us to 104-year-old matriarch, Dide, imprisoned in an asylum in southern France.

It’s a long listening commitment, but just amazing. From great humor to gut wrenching and all of the human twists and turns in between. I loved it.

Extraordinary!

First off, a STANDING OVATION for Rosamund Pike. An absolutely superb narration.
I am a Jane Austen newbie. I knew her name and little else. I read an article about her recently and figured I’d give it a whirl. The character development was terrific and turns of language were wildly captivating - I’m hooked. Not sure I can come up with many more superlative adjectives, so I’ll leave it here.
