Story
The fateful first meeting of Enza and Ciro takes place amid the Italian Alps at the turn of the last century. Still teenagers, they are separated when Ciro is banished from his village and sent to hide in New York's Little Italy, apprenticed to a shoemaker, leaving a bereft Enza behind. But when her own family faces disaster, she, too, is forced to emigrate to America. Though destiny will reunite the star-crossed lovers, it will, just as abruptly, separate them once again - sending Ciro off to serve in World War I, while Enza is drawn into the glamorous world of the opera.

Story
Louis Comfort Tiffany, famous for his stained-glass windows, is planning a unique installation at the Paris World’s Fair, the largest in history. At their fifth-floor studio on Fourth Avenue, the artists of the Women’s Division of the Tiffany Glass Company are already working longer shifts to finish the pieces that Tiffany hopes will prove that he is the world’s finest artist in glass. Known as the “Tiffany Girls,” these women are responsible for much of the design and construction of Tiffany’s extraordinary glassworks, but none receive credit.

History forgotten, enjoyable listen
Reviewed: 06-20-23
I’ve always admired Tiffany glass, especially when visiting churches with Tiffany windows like Trinity church in Staunton, VA. I enjoyed learning more about the history. I will share that I needed a dictionary at times for some of the rarely used/spoken words. Not always convenient since I often listen while driving. However it did not take away from the story. I will likely look into Ms. Noble’s other titles.

What a wonderful distraction from the stresses of life. Especially enjoyed three epilogues. Will be recommending to others.

Narrative variety kept me listening.

With three narrators it felt more like knowing the different characters & kept me listening. Overall the story was good, however the ending felt sudden & disappointing as it could have been more. I suppose that’s a challenge to any writer.

Story
The Age of Light tells the story of Vogue-model-turned-renowned-photographer Lee Miller, and her search to forge a new identity as an artist after a life spent as a muse. She arrives in Paris in 1929, where she soon catches the eye of the famous Surrealist Man Ray. Though he wants to use her only as a model, Lee convinces him to take her on as his assistant. But Man Ray turns out to be an egotistical, charismatic force, and as they work together in the darkroom, their personal and professional lives become intimately entwined, changing the course of Lee's life forever.

Exquisite & verbally full-filling, art for the ears.

This is one of only a few books of the hundreds that I could listen to again. I’ve also purchased a hardcover. Ms. Scharer paints a beautiful story with words, describing a time-period & a relationship/love affair of that time. Pay close attention to the details & all the artists & socialites intertwined. Take time as well to review the photography of Lee Miller on line - thousands of them. Stunning.
