This was the usual gripping, explicit content I have come to expect expect. Characters and early story line reflect everyday life, until something unimaginable happens.

Julia Whelan tells this story beautifully. The various voices she uses brings this story to life. The story however spends so much time in the drought and Great Depression, that it felt like that was the whole point of the story. It was exhausting!
