Story
After her mother died, vivacious Katey Tyler fled her dull Connecticut town, hoping to meet her relatives in England and find adventure and romance on a grand tour of Europe. Not Lindsey's best, disappointing Mallory novel.

Very cheesy
Reviewed: 09-24-08
I used to like Johanna Lindsey's books but could not finish this one. Perhaps, her style changed or my tastes 'grew up' but the story was very cheesy, not at all engaging, the narrator was a woman and did not do a good job of imitating men's voices - I felt like I was listening to The Simpsons. I was not able to finish the book and do not recommend it.

Story
Around the time Elizabeth Gilbert turned 30, she went through an early-onslaught midlife crisis. She went through a divorce, a crushing depression, another failed love, and the eradication of everything she ever thought she was supposed to be. To recover from all this, Gilbert took a radical step. She got rid of her belongings, quit her job, and undertook a yearlong journey around the world, all alone. This is the absorbing chronicle of that year.

Great listen!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. It follows travels and spiritual journey of the author. The book is well written, it flows great and is easy to listen to. Also, the author narrated this book and she did a great job - she has a very pleasant voice and conveyed the emotion well. Listening to this book, I was able to escape for a moment, it really does allow you to immerse yourself in it. I highly recommend!

Very cheesy. I finished it with difficulty. If you are not into the syropy, Barbara Cartland type of romance, you will not like this book.

I would have rather listened to the unabridged version. The plot was great but it would have been better to listen to the whole thing. I recommend but buy the unabridged version.
