Story
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Fifty shades of HELL YES!!
Reviewed: 09-13-12
I downloaded Fifty Shades of Grey because I was curious from all the hype surrounding this story. It's not my usual genre of listening but the more I listened, the more I enjoyed the story. Anastasia Steele is the kind of woman a man dreams of but rarely finds. She's highly intelligent, innately good-hearted, awkwardly innocent, passionately affectionate, and optimistically unjaded. Listening to Becca Battoe tell the story, she suddenly becomes Anastasia as you listen and that's a rare quality in a narrator. The way she speaks and the was she phrases her sentences, Ms. Battoe captures the emotion expressed in the words of the book. The story is excellently written and gives the listener an opportunity to take an uninhibited, uncensored look into the heart and mind of a proper, intelligent young woman while she falls in love for the first time. Love before she's had her heart broken and trampled on by some other guy. Love before she puts up a wall around her heart and decides that showing her love exposes a weakness that will be taken advantage of. It breaks my heart thinking of her and how this is bound to end up but it also gives me hope that maybe one day, I'll find an Anastasia of my own. Great book!

Story
John Varley's monumental trilogy - Titan, Wizard, and Demon - has achieved cult status, hailed as a modern triumph of the imagination by critics and fans. It begins with humankind's exploration of a massive satellite orbiting Saturn. It culminates in a shocking discovery: the satellite is a giant alien being. Her name is Gaea. Her awesome interior is mind-boggling - because it is a mind. A mind that calls out to explorers...and transforms all who enter.

Titan, Wizard, and Demon have enthralled a generation of readers with adventure, humor, horror, and dazzling imagination. Now, in the epic conclusion of John Varley's masterpiece, the satellite-sized Gaea has gone completely insane. She has trapped humans in her mind. She has transformed her love of old movies into monstrous realities. She is Marilyn Monroe. She is King Kong. And she must be destroyed.

Story
The Illuminati, an inside joke? The lunatic fringe? Or a vast conspiracy hidden for centuries, unleashing it's power on a naive, defenseless world? It was the lousy luck of Saul Goodman, a tough, streetwise New York detective, to smell the trail in a bombed-out office - the heavy case he'd always dreaded. In a breakneck race against an awesome deadline, Goodman plunges down the trail of the ultimate conspiracy as the days fall away toward Apocalypse.

Very Strange

I got this book because of an interest in the Illuminati. I found that it was just a bunch of stories being told in flashback and the book was kind of confusing. The narrator's voice will really irk you at the beginning but if you can stand to get through the book I found I kinda liked it.

Story
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Story
The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization. But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival--a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....
