Story
In the summer of 1932, the Weimar Republic was on the verge of collapse. One in three Germans was unemployed. Violence was rampant. Hitler’s National Socialists surged at the polls. Paul von Hindenburg, an aging war hero and avowed monarchist, was a reluctant president bound by oath to uphold the constitution. The November elections offered Hitler the prospect of a Reichstag majority and the path to political power. But instead, the Nazis lost two million votes.

Rise Repeat?!?!
Reviewed: 02-21-25
I can't believe we are repeating history almost verbatim here in USA. I knew bits and pieces of the history but after reading this I am truly terrified for the future of our country. For the one reviewer that started that this was a boring story... Dear Sir or Madam this was history and this is history now this isn't some work of fiction! For God sakes something needs to be done before it truly is too late. Wake Up!

Great book for newbie's like myself
Reviewed: 09-23-20
Very informative mixed with craft, science and pop culture references, even though I could have done without the pop culture references like the show 'Charmed' and Buffy the 'Vampire Slayer's (lost some credibility for me when these were mentioned) but to each there own. Overall very good and I enjoyed the narration. I enjoyed this so much I plan on getting a hardcover book for reference.

I have so much respect for Mr. Comey, though are politics differ I appreciate his loyalty to this country and his over stead fastness of truth and justice. This read isn't so much as a "tell all" sort of book but really a book about ethics and leadership and what it really should be. I learned some much from this book that I plan to listen to it again. Mr. Comey, thank you for your leadership and service. I wish all had your integrity.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

A multitude of characters. Zachary Quint...superb!
Reviewed: 04-13-19
Zachary Quint and is fantastic acting made this story for me, I truly believe if it had been anyone else I wouldn't have liked it as much as I did. My only real issue is Det. Langdon is supposed to be a black woman from Chi-town, she sound like she was more likely from the South. *Note to the director, not all black woman sound that way. It was a bit of a stereotype that bugged the heck outta me. Other then that I really enjoyed this and I hope this is made into a recurring series.

Story
For his victims, for their families and for the investigators tasked with finding him, the senselessness and brutality of the Golden State Killer's acts were matched only by the powerlessness they felt at failing to uncover his identity. Then, on April 24, 2018, authorities arrested 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo at his home in Citrus Heights, Calif., based on DNA evidence linked to the crimes. Amazingly, it seemed, evil finally had a name. Please note: This work contains descriptions of violent crime and sexual assault and may not be suitable for all listeners.

Chapter 12
Reviewed: 11-17-18
This was well done very informative but also sad and tragic as it should be because what that man did was horrid. GSK was, is a monster and thank God it seems (I believe) he has been captured after so long and will have what's coming to him. Out of all the chapters, the chapter that stood at the most for me was chapter 12. Sitting in my truck, listening at a local grocery store just before I was ready to go in and shop. Couldn't go in until I finished the very and had wiped away the tears. I just can't even imagine.

Story
While he's not quite a household name, most people would consider H. Jon Benjamin, the voice-actor star of Archer and Bob's Burgers (and a sentient can of mixed vegetables in 2015's Wet Hot American Summer) a comedy show business success. But he'd like to remind everyone that as great as success can be, failure is also an option. In a hilarious, self-deprecating memoir, Jon lays out some of his many failures in all areas of life, from Work ("wherein I'm unable to deliver a sizzling fajita") to Family ("wherein a trip to PF Chang's fractures a family").

This book has been on my list and I'm sorry to say I never really made an effort to read until Anthony's death. I wish I read it sooner. Sad to say there will never be another like Mr. Bourdain.
I'm so incredibly happy that Mr. Bourdain narrated his book, it would have not been the same if it had been anyone else. Word for word, he really makes you feel as though you were living it at that moment...you can almost smell and taste every perfect morsel. Food is life and Life is food...and the people behind it all...from the dishwasher to the Head Chef bust their asses and literally give the blood sweat and tears for what they do. This book has easily just made my 10 list. ❤R.I.P. AB❤
