Story
Vanja Schmidt knows no gift is freely given, not even a mother’s love. Abandoned to Death and Fortune as a child, she has scraped by as a lowly maidservant with her quick wits and the ability to see her godmothers’ hands at work in the world. But when they demand her lifelong servitude in exchange, Vanja decides that gifts not given freely...can always be stolen. A wicked retelling of “The Goose Girl", Little Thieves is a delightfully witty YA fantasy about the fickle hands of fate, and changing the cards we’re dealt.

I loved following calla through her journey of love, self discovery, family secrets, friendships, war & woofdom. redefining each term as she went. she is everything you could hope for in a lead character with a wonderful supporting cast along for the ride.
the good guys were good. the bad guys were bad but all of them had their own story and reason for their side. I loved the world building, Magic, queer characters, and plot twisting storyline. I choose this book for its cover. I stayed for the ending! I can't wait to read the next book!
narration couldn't be better! Bravo!

Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation - marriage. Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.

overall / story- a wonderful story that hooked me immediately. I found myself re-falling in love with a tale as old as time. girl and boy are from different worlds and live their lives avoiding/hunting one another's peoples. girl and boy fall in love but struggle to overcome family differences. what makes this story special is the magic weaving & world building. it's the imagery that makes you feel as though you can watch the book as if it were a movie, but without overuse of imagery! i absolutely loved the female lead & her foul mouth, rough around the edges feel. Her best friends remind me of all of my favorite people. & Reid (male lead) gives us all hope that men who are raised wrong, will one day open their eyes.
performance- female narration was amazing. cheifs kiss. I don't think anyone could have read this book better. male narration was not as bad as many reviews make it out to be but towards the end he gets a bit sloppy with characters voices, and can at some points be a bit cringy with his dramatic effects. that being said, it takes nothing away from the story and I still highly recommend the read!

this book takes you on an adventure through current day sleepy hollow where Kat Vantessle is growing up as your not so regular teenage girl. sure, she is doing the normal teen thing where she is dating, going to school, dreaming of traveling the world, and secretly wanting to be a writer, but when her town knows her as the name sake to the original kathrine of sleepy hollow. her great aunt is part of the towns history & has passed her name from generation to generation promising protection from the headless horsemean and other sleepy hollow ghosts. but should kat fear the living more than spirits from the past? Can she trust the friends and relationships she known her entire life? or will a new girl in town be the key to unlocking secrets about the first Katrina's life, along with secrets of her own she didn't know were hidden.
this book in my opinion is perfect for older teens and Y/A. or anyone who enjoys the disney flare for dramatics. narration was a little slow but once sped up I very much enjoyed it

I picked up this book 4 separate times after buying it. Each time I would get like 2-3 chapters in & then put it down and read something else. this time I stuck it out and I'm VERY glad I did! once the book got going I found it very hard to put down. great narration & plot building! I truly loved trying to think critically along side effie & preston as they investigated a Caer-Isel national author & his writting! absolutely love that both the main characters are strong and independent with truma in very different ways. the balance between them is exactly what you would want for either character. the image of the fairy King was like no other! I loved reading a story I truly felt like I had never heard before. so many times we get the same idea told from a different perspective but this time it was truly a world all its own with characters all its own. I'm pretty good at guessing endings but this one had me stumped. I was so pleased with the wrap up! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick trip to another land where magic & scholarly logic go hand in hand! enjoy!

Now Emory is plagued by strange, impossible powers that no healer should possess. Powers that would ruin her life if the wrong person were to discover them. To gain control of these new abilities, Emory enlists the help of the school’s most reclusive student, Baz—a boy already well-versed in the deadly nature of darker magic.

Curious Tides transported me to a world I never wanted to leave, and introduced me to characters I will never forget. Follow Emory, Baz & all of the other students at Aldryn College, as they journey through grief, love, self discovery, mystery & of course, Magic! but this isn't just any dark Academia book, it's one written in a way that that will have you quoting Lacelle's Imagery & dreaming of the world's she's created. I can not speak highly enough. This may be the first book of 2024 but it currently holds my #1 spot of all time... & that says a lot. I can't wait to see what adventures book two will bring 😍 🤗

I was drawn to this book because I'm a sucker for anything witchy, or gay. lucky for me, this book was way more than I originally thought. as a Bisexual, practicing Medium, from Connecticut with family who live near and work at mystic aquarium & also happens to love & frequently visit Salem mass, this book healed me in ways I didn't know it could. Where was this book when I was trying to find people like me? I found myself relating to the main characters in many ways, which wasn't always the most comfortable, but as I read/listened to this book, I found myself healing old wounds along side Pix & Eleanor.
but even if you don't relate to every chapter in this book the way I happen to, the story is so well written & the narration was flawless. you'll love reading about the self discovery, mistakes, heart breaks, healing, love, and real world witchcraft. I look forward to reading more from this author!

1. Stick it out. the beginning for me left me feeling like I was missing a huge chunk of the story. I even went back to make sure I wasn't missing the first book. you're not. KEEP READING.
2. I think the narration made this story THAT MUCH BETTER! if possible. tough to listen to if you're sleepy because the voice is very soothing, but you'll want to pay attention.
3. This book has everything I could ever want in a novel. Magic, Love, Heartbreak, Murder, Scandal, Good Guys & Bad Guys, and some Good Guys with Questionable Qualities. Character building, Complexity without being too wordy, and that "can't put it down" feeling.
fall in love with the characters for all of their strengths, flaws, and bravery. this book will take you for a ride like you've never been on in your life. I am genuinely sad it's over but now I'm excited to tell everyone about it. THAT is how you know it's a good book.
i know i said a lot and nothing at all but if you're considering this book, trust your gut and start reading/listening.

I’m not sure what I was expecting when I picked this title but what I got was something completely different. My favorite part of the book was Nate’s character & his dynamic with bronwyn. I liked how different all 4 main characters were but some of them felt hard to connect with. Narration was great, writing was awesome, over all story felt a bit rushed. I believe they made a tv series based on this book and I look forward to seeing this on the screen.
