Decent, but a little too much "he just wins"
Reviewed: 01-15-25
Overall a decent book, but there was a pretty severe lack of stakes/danger for the MC throughout most of it. I understand it's an OP Power Fantasy story and there were some sections where it actually felt like he was challenged properly. Still, it usually got ruined by an instant (or close enough) power-up to make it not a problem anymore.

Training Arc Begins

Overall, a very good continuation of the series. They made it obvious a few books back that this arc was coming and I've genuinely looked forward to it ever since. Even though it's just an in-between arc, it has just as much meaning as each of the other books.

Weak in a world full of strength, all he and his friends have is their grit and determination to survive as they navigate this brutal, war-torn land of magic in search of a way home. There’s a problem, though. Clive’s been cursed. A little stabby, stabby from a demonic knife catapults them into a race against time to find a cure. Fighting their way across Falritas, they need friends and levels like there’s no tomorrow. Because there might not be…

Was pretty good, until the end.
Reviewed: 04-11-23
The first 3/4 of the book was pretty good, but it felt like it was just dragging on for the last few hours (about 4 or 5). I prefer fewer, longer books but there were a few places I felt they could've just cut forward a few minutes and nothing would've been missed. The ending also felt very flat and more like a smash cut than a scene transition.

Urged on by the System itself, Zac has set his sights on the heart of the Mystic Realm. That's where the Dominators are heading, and it might be where the answers to his bloodline can be found. However, the followers of the Great Redeemer are not the only ones Zac and his companions have to worry about. The trapped factions of the Realm itself have plans of their own. Even eldritch horrors are flocking to the Mystic Realm, attracted by the powerful treasure in its center.

Decent story, poor writing
Reviewed: 02-10-23
I've listened to each book up to this point and overall, they're pretty good for a smaller writer; better than I'd normally expect. Unfortunately, this one let me down a bit. Without spoilers, many plot points seemed to be "I need to advance the plot and have no idea what to do" or "I want this thing to happen, but I don't know how to fit it into the story." That and the constant use of the same buzzwords over and over made the first three-quarters of the book feel like fan fiction from 2013. It recovered decently at the end and set up a good continuation, but the majority of the book just wasn't great. Series: 8/10 Book: 5/10
