Story
My husband was not a monster. No matter what they say.... The day my husband, Michael, stepped in front of a lorry after being questioned by the police, my world fell apart. He was devoted to me and our six-year-old daughter. But they’d connected him to the disappearance of a young mother from our tiny village.

Very Compelling, but Disappointing

The first 30 chapters of this book are filled with an interesting narrative that really immerses you in this small village. The conflict is interesting and the main character seems reasonable and relatable. Unfortunately, the last half of the book takes a very strange and somewhat confusing "and they all lived happily ever after" ending after tons of possible emotional strife and major negative changes to the main characters. It feels like Kate slowly turns into a worse and worse person as grief and anger slowly take over her life and ruin her career-- then wham bam actually it's not bad at all! Everything is great now! Very few consequences!
It's a bit of a letdown.
I still enjoyed the ride, even if the conclusion was too convenient. The performance is flawless. I loved every voice and every interpretation of the characters! Worth the listen for sure.

Truly a Wild Ride

The premise of this story really caught me, and the details they give aren't really too graphic- the biggest ick in the whole story was when they played a clip of one of the training tapes. I don't believe that sound will ever free itself from my head...
The narration is engaging and professional. Dialogue is well mixed and cut at the right times, and every time someone else speaks, the narrator makes sure to tell you who they are.
The information is laid out well and details are given in just the right way. They take a lot of time to emphasize the gaps in law that allowed this story to unfold, and it's unfortunate that Gore got off with the sentence that he did. This one is a fantastic ride from beginning to end and I would recommend it to any true crime lover or mortician out there.

Story
Even with the excitement of a new school and a fresh start, Charlie's still haunted by nightmares of a masked murderer and four gruesome animatronic puppets. Charlie thinks her ordeal is over, but when a series of bodies are discovered near her school - bearing wounds that are disturbingly familiar - she finds herself drawn back into the world of her father's frightening creations. Something twisted is hunting Charlie, and this time if it finds her, it's not letting her go.

Interesting Continuation

Enjoyable to the end. Even if Charlie is a bit... Distant and occasionally unbelievable. As someone who is already very invested in the Five Nights at Freddy's lore, this take of the story is a lot easier to follow than the breadcrumb story that the games provide. Definitely worth continuing beyond this point in my eyes! So far, the first book is certainly the weakest.
