I have studied Dutch intensively for the past year. I have gone through Pimsleur and Michel Thomas (beginner to advanced) multiple times. "Get Talking in Dutch" is an excellent learning resource. I purchased both the Beginner and Advanced Beginner courses. The prior negative review on this course is way off base. Frankly, it's puzzling and incorrect. The major complaint is the lack of time to listen and then repeat. Just the opposite is true. Really. That reviewer could not have listened to this program for more than about 10 minutes. The introduction provides the listener a "feel" for the phonetics and sound of the Dutch language. After that, the course provides extensive conversational practice on real-life situations and venues. If anything, the course provides almost too much "listen and repeat" opportunities. But that's not a bad thing. Conversations are played, repeated and then broken down, sentence by sentence. The listen and repeat opportunities are excellent and extensive. I have studied multiple languages over the past 30 years. The author of the "Get Talking in Dutch" series invested careful time and thought in this excellent program. Once you get past the initial introduction to the sound of the language, you will have ample opportunity to practice the language (listen and repeat) and learn real-world essential vocabulary. An excellent learning tool to learn the beautiful Dutch language.
