Story
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

I’m about half way through and I have to give up. Way too many poor choices of the main character especially for a “professor.” You lost me. Too incredible.

Could Have Been Good

Remember when we were in school and had to write assignments requiring a minimum of 5 paragraphs? We would squeeze every last word into a sentence to take up more space. This is my experience of what this author did with this story. Many times I was yelling at the reader to "GET ON WITH IT." Verbose would be a kind word to describe this book. And then, there is the ridiculous story line that turns your stomach when you learn who the "villain" is. Ugh. I rarely write reviews, although I heavily depend on them when making a new book choice. Perhaps this, dear reader, may save you from a disappointing choice.

The narrator was excellent - her voices were clearly distinct and that enhanced my enjoyment of this book. I enjoyed this book SO much that I wanted to write a glowing review even before I finished it. Well done!

In This Is Me, Chrissy Metz shares her story with a raw honesty that will leave listeners both surprised but also inspired. Infused with the same authenticity she brings to her starring role, Chrissy's This Is Me is so much more than your standard Hollywood memoir or collection of personal essays. She embraces the spirit of Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yes and shares how she has applied the lessons she learned from both setbacks and successes. A born entertainer, Chrissy finds light in even her darkest moments and leaves the listener feeling they are spending time with a friend who gets it.

I'm not even all the way through the book yet, but I wanted to share how much I am enjoying this book. Listening to Chrissy narrate this book makes it even better - her intonations make you know exactly what her emotions are. I highly recommend this title and am thoroughly enjoying it. Way to go, Chrissy.

Love Life serves up another delicious selection of intimate stories and observations from Rob Lowe's life, told with humor, warmth, and brutal honesty. After writing his acclaimed debut effort, Lowe felt he had more stories to share and many more friends to introduce. The result is a touching memoir about the business and craft of acting, the pitfalls of success, family, love, and much more.

Rob Lowe Rocks
Reviewed: 04-15-14
What made the experience of listening to Love Life the most enjoyable?
Rob is not only interesting and articulate, but somehow deeply connects while baring his soul to you. There is nothing phony about him or his books. This is the 2nd one I have listened to and I hope he writes a dozen more.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Rob!
Have you listened to any of Rob Lowe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I listened to his first book and this is every bit as engaging and I could, literally, hardly put it down.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laughing and crying both. And as he so eloquently describes his emotions, I found myself mimicking what I imagined would be his face at the time.
