Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I bought this book since I loved the movie, but I have to say it was a little deflating.
Would you recommend Something Borrowed to your friends? Why or why not?
I'd recommend the movie, the actors really brought the book to life. The book just seemed more hum-drum.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It was fine, but a bit whiney at times.
Could you see Something Borrowed being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Well yeah it already is..
Any additional comments?
Don't buy this book just because you liked the movie.

Story
Darcy Rhone thought she had it all figured out: the more beautiful the girl, the more charmed her life. Never mind substance. Never mind playing by the rules. Never mind karma. But Darcy's neat, perfect world turns upside down when her best friend, Rachel, the plain-Jane “good girl,” steals her fiancé, while Darcy finds herself completely alone for the first time in her life . . . with a baby on the way. Darcy tries to recover, fleeing to her childhood friend living in London and resorting to her tried-and-true methods for getting what she wants.

Haven't even finished this whiney annoying story
Reviewed: 02-13-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better narration could have made this easier to listen to, and a more productive story line.
What was most disappointing about Emily Giffin’s story?
The first 5 chapters were practically the same information as the last book. Super annoying and super repetitive.
How could the performance have been better?
It's almost like the narrator doesn't even like Darcy (the main character) as she makes her as whiney as possible. Her inflections could be better for the other characters also.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boredom and frustration.
Any additional comments?
Do not buy this book if you are interested in listening to anything more than incessant superficial complaining.

Would you listen to The China Study again? Why?
Yes definitely. I don't feel like I could take in all the information in one go! It gets dry at some points, but I feel that it would be important to still make the effort to pay attention.
What did you like best about this story?
The content and explanations are quite good.
Have you listened to any of Stefan Rudnicki’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope. But he seems to do a decent job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Well other than you pretty much decide you probably should turn vegan..

Not as good as expected
Reviewed: 07-26-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I'd cut out a bunch of his random stories. Many of them were quite dull and appeared to have little significance.
Would you be willing to try another book from William Shatner and David Fisher ? Why or why not?
Very possibly not. William Shatner appeared quite full of himself, and even though he was telling the stories, the way he talked about himself made him sound a bit self involved. He often felt the need to dispute horrible things people had said or felt against him, giving the impression that there was something causing it to begin with,
Would you listen to another book narrated by William Shatner?
Maybe. The audio for this book would be loud one minute then become very very quiet, that I could not understand what was said even when the volume was up full blast. I have the feeling it was the way Shatner spoke, however you'd think someone producing this could have easily fixed the problem.
Did Up Till Now inspire you to do anything?
No

Story
In 1983 four self-described 'knuckleheads' burst out of the neo-punk rock scene in LA with their own unique brand of cosmic hard-core mayhem funk. Over 20 years later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, against all the odds, have become one of the most successful bands in the world. Though the band has gone through many incarnations, Anthony Kiedis, the group's lyricist and dynamic lead singer, has been there for the whole rollercoastar ride.

Where does Scar Tissue rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Up near the top for sure. The narrator is fantastic & the book has got a great mix of highs, lows, funny bits, sad bits and so on that make it really easy to keep listening.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the stories behind the music. What was going on in their lives when they were doing which shows. Anthony Keidis very unconventional childhood is interesting, as is his continued functioning as a musician to such a high level, whilst leading such a dysfunctional long time drug interest!
Have you listened to any of Rider Strong’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Never, but this one was fantastic!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
No idea, but I would love them to make a film!

Story
Bob Dylan's Chronicles: Volume One explores the critical junctions in his life and career. Through Dylan's eyes and open mind, we see Greenwich Village, circa 1961, when he first arrives in Manhattan. Dylan's New York is a magical city of possibilities: smoky, nightlong parties; literary awakenings; transient loves and unbreakable friendships. Elegiac observations are punctuated by jabs of memories, penetrating and tough.

What would have made Chronicles better?
I'm just not sure that it was written that well, or perhaps the abridged version made it seem that way. Perhaps a different reader may have made it more catching.
Would you be willing to try another book from Bob Dylan? Why or why not?
Perhaps not. I really had difficulty getting into this book.
Did Sean Penn do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
His voice is very sexy but as a reader it was not very catching and had more the effect of a relaxation tape. I would end up just zoning right out.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Honestly i had a hard time remembering actually what went on in this book, since i pretty much fell asleep most times I listened to it.

Story
A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an 1100-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe and built her back up again. At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. After her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than an idea: vague, outlandish, and full of promise.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would, but with a few warnings. I liked the journey part of the story. However I felt there was quite a bit of dysfunctional grieving, explicit references to sex, and a terrible story about killing a horse that I could not listen to.
If you’ve listened to books by Cheryl Strayed before, how does this one compare?
I've not read any of her other books.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed her stories of other hikers along the trail.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A few laughs here and there. Definitely cried! Was pretty traumatised by the horse story, I had to skip ahead.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Probably neither
Would you be willing to try another book from John Green? Why or why not?
I felt the book was typical of many teenagers that I know, over analytical, using big descriptive words about basic things to make themselves sound important. I did enjoy it in the end, but for large parts I felt disinterested & easily tuned out.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I think so.
Was The Fault in Our Stars worth the listening time?
Well I felt myself tuning out quite a bit, and was just keen to get it finished and out of the way rather than enjoying being involved in the book.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not. The book was a bit all over the place. The guy Vinnie is obviously a great dude. I'd recommend this book for novices to health and fitness.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
There was no real ending really, since there was no continuing story line. It was multiple little stories all tied in together.
What does Vinnie Tortorich bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He does some personal commentary that's not in the book. He seems to have a lot to say, and would probably be really good to talk to 1-1. But for the book style it can kind of be a bit off topic at times.
Could you see Fitness Confidential being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I could see it being a great TV reality series with Vinnie training a variety of people from complete novice to amateur athlete.
