Story
Six months after Pearl Harbor, the seemingly invincible Imperial Japanese Navy prepared a decisive blow against the United States. After sweeping through Asia and the South Pacific, Japan's military targeted the tiny atoll of Midway, an ideal launching pad for the invasion of Hawaii and beyond. But the United States Navy was waiting for them. Thanks to cutting-edge code-breaking technology, tactical daring, and a huge stroke of luck, the Americans under Admiral Chester W. Nimitz dealt the Japanese navy its first major defeat of the war.

The United States laid the shield of defense down and picked up the sword of offense to overcome the odds and come out victorious! I have come away from this book with a new respect for Admiral Jack Fletcher and respect for the genius of Admiral Raymond Spruance.

Story
In war, victory can be held hostage to seemingly insignificant incidents - chance events, opportunities seized or cast aside - that can derail the most brilliant military strategies and change the course of history. What if the Japanese had conquered India and driven out the British? What if the strategic link between the United States and Australia had been severed? What if Vice Admiral Nagumo had launched a third attack on Pearl Harbor? What if the US Navy's gamble at Midway had backfired?

Story
On the first Sunday in December 1941, an armada of Japanese warplanes appeared suddenly over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and devastated the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Six months later, in a sea fight north of the tiny atoll of Midway, four Japanese aircraft carriers were sent into the abyss. Pacific Crucible tells the epic tale of these first searing months of the Pacific war, when the U.S. Navy shook off the worst defeat in American military history and seized the strategic initiative.

The war begins

Yamamoto made two mistakes in the beginning of this war. The first was attacking Pearl Harbor, he, nor his subordinates realized the resolve it conjured up in the American spirit. And Second, his plan to take Midway and draw the American carriers out for a final showdown. By the grace of God, we had broke their code enough to see what was coming, and it gave Nimitz the upper hand to wipe out for carriers and deliver a decisive blow to the plan. After midway the American spirit dealt Japan, nothing but defeat at their doorstep.

I thank God for this man and hope that we the silent majority will rally around people like Victor to crush this foolishness that we see in our country today. May God give us the strength, the wisdom, and the understanding to take on the troubles of this nation, and turn it around.

Story
Ty Seidule grew up revering Robert E. Lee. From his southern childhood to his service in the US Army, every part of his life reinforced the Lost Cause myth: that Lee was the greatest man who ever lived, and that the Confederates were underdogs who lost the Civil War with honor. Now, as a retired brigadier general and Professor Emeritus of History at West Point, his view has radically changed. From a soldier, a scholar, and a southerner, Ty Seidule believes that American history demands a reckoning.

They are three brothers, all navy men, who end up coincidentally and extraordinarily at the epicenter of three of the war's most crucial moments. Bill is picked by Roosevelt to run his first map room in Washington. Benny is the gunnery and antiaircraft officer on the USS Enterprise, one of the only carriers to escape Pearl Harbor and by the end of 1942 the last one left in the Pacific to defend against the Japanese. Barton, the youngest and least distinguished of the three, is shuffled off to the Navy Supply Corps because his mother wants him out of harm's way.

Oh I thought ‘Tears in the Darkness’ was the best book I had ever read on the fate of those outstanding heroes of baton and Corregidor. The Jersey Brothers ranks right at the top with that book! In this world today or some people feel they must take a knee at the national anthem, obviously I have not read the plight of these men and the horrors they lived under the occupation of the Japanese. I stand an honor and salute those brave man gave all and suffered unimaginable horrors to pay for mine and your freedom. God bless them all! In conclusion, this book is a must read! Thank you Sally Mott Freeman for sharing your family’s story. And may God bless you as well.

Behind Japanese Lines has a great deal to say about the relations with the Filipinos and about the problems of dealing with and fighting the Hukbalahaps, the communist guerrillas or, indeed, in opposing the Japanese. This book adds considerable insights into the significance of guerrilla warfare as it relates to modern warfare in general

I do not wish to degrade any soldier that fought this war! But both the writing and narration sound like some cheap Hollywood comical screenplay ! It was so bad, I had to force myself to finish it! I’m sure Ray Hunt, Bernard Norling, and Chaz Allen did their best to tell the story of the gorilla’s on The Philippines but I was NOT moved as I had been with books like ‘Tears in the Darkness ‘ and ‘The 40 Thieves of Saipan’ . I do not recommend this book.
