Story
The Gallup Poll reports that one in 25 people has had a near-death experience. Their heart stopped beating, their brain waves ceased; they claim they were more alive than ever. With improved medical resuscitation, more and more verifiable evidence indicates that life doesn't end with our last breath - it's just beginning. Drawing out the similarities found by studying over 1,000 accounts of near-death experiences around the globe, John Burke unfolds a compelling and comforting vision of a world where we are free from pain; we feel fully known and accepted; we are greeted by loved ones.

Story
Harmony House is more than a “special place for special people.” It’s a think tank where high-functioning autistic savants harness their unique abilities for the benefit of society. Resident Eddie Parks’s contribution: an “echo box” that can re-create never-recorded sounds using acoustic archeology. All Eddie wants is to hear his late mother’s voice. But what he’s created is inadvertently posing a threat to national security. To Harmony House’s shadowy government backers and radical extremists, the echo box is the ultimate intelligence asset - an end to the very concept of secrecy.

The premise was interesting & I enjoyed the characters— especially enjoyed the development of the Dr & Eddy’s relationship. The narrator was fantastic- easy to understand & never boring. My one criticism would be that the end of the story isn’t resolved— I guess we’re being set up to buy book #2.

An easy listen. The narrator was fine. The worst thing was the author's continual use of the word "niggle."

The narrator was hard to listen to because she often used "vocal fry." The story wasn't too complicated & the characters were easy enough to like.

The story was interesting & fun-- Mrs. Pollifax surprises everyone, including herself! The narrator did a great job too... but there was distracting background noise. It sounded like it was recorded where others were having conversations, instead of a sound proofed studio.

Story
In 1945, after his capture at the end of the Second World War, Hermann Göring arrived at an American-run detention center in war-torn Luxembourg, accompanied by 16 suitcases and a red hatbox. The suitcases contained all manner of paraphernalia: medals, gems, two cigar cutters, silk underwear, a hot water bottle, and the equivalent of $100,000,000 in cash. Hidden in a coffee can, a set of brass vials housed glass capsules containing a clear liquid and a white precipitate: potassium cyanide. Joining Göring in the detention center were the elite of the captured Nazi regime....

More about the psychiatrist than the Nazi
Reviewed: 05-27-16
Interesting story, but the concentration was directed more towards the psychiatrist than the Nazis. It felt more biographical about Kelly's life & how his time treating the Nazis affected him.

Story
Two dead bodies changed the course of my life that fall. One of them I knew and the other I'd never laid eyes on until I saw him in the morgue. The first was a local PI of suspect reputation. He'd been gunned down near the beach at Santa Teresa. It looked like a robbery gone bad. The other was on the beach six weeks later. He'd been sleeping rough. Probably homeless. No identification. A slip of paper with Millhone's name and number was in his pants pocket. The coroner asked her to come to the morgue to see if she could ID him.

It's a decent story. The narrator is good. It's a long buildup to the climax of the story-- you get there, but then there's no ending. Very unsatisfying. I guess the author wants you to buy the next book.

I listen to and read a lot of the "Murder she wrote" books, & this was not one of my favorites. I didn't like her talking about writing the book-- that seemed extraneous & bogged the story down. Still enjoyable though...
