Story
Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these 81 verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good.

Awesome!

This book is a great way to get to know the Dao De Jing or tao te ching, however it's spelled. I have listened to several of Dr. Dyer's works, and I think that this is up there with the best. It's a great real world explanation of the Dao for folks that are looking for a little different perspective on life. I think he does a good job of bringing the "Eastern" philosophy to the "Western" mind. Some of his suggestions may seem a bit pollyanna, but that is his nature.

Horrrrrible! Save your money!

I picked this book up because the author is referenced by some other authors I listen to. It may just be this particular work, but Jim Rohn rambles on and on, providing a sizzle with no steak. I honestly listened for 45 minutes hoping to get just one salient point from the work and finally had to shut it off. It's like going to church and listening to the longest and most boring sermon EVER delivered.

Story
Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

Very interesting epic-like book that may not appeal to the typical male reader.

When Don't Know Much About History first appeared, it created a sensation. With humor, great stories, and a trademark conversational style, the audiobook brought Americans a fresh new take on history. Davis proved that Americans don't hate history - they just hate the dull textbook version they were force-fed in school.

Have to agree there is a lefty tilt
Reviewed: 08-12-07
The book starts off on an interesting take. The good old days were not as great as we were all told they were in school. However, as time marches on, there is without a doubt a HUGE liberal tilt to the book. If it irks you to hear conservatives beaten about the head and face, while the more liberal leaders are given a pass on their behavior then this book is not for you. If you are an uber-liberal, you will listen with glee as conservatives are blamed for every foul turn in American history. The most interesting of which is the idea that Ronald Reagan is somewhat to blame for the space shuttle Challenger disaster. Classic!

I have read this book twice, and reccommended it to several friends. If you want to break out of the rat race and live a little buy it. At the very least it will give you some ideas on bringing in additional income.

If you can get over the fact that you are listening to a seminar that was given over 7 years ago, this audio is awesome. The delivery is lively enough, and the material is worth listening to again and again. It's a great asset for sales folks, especially slumping ones...like me!

A Very In-Depth Piece

This book took awhile to get going, but when you are covering this type of subject matter I suppose that is to be expected. I thought the authors did a terrific job of helping the listener visualize the figures they throw around. The book will scare you a bit as it talks of possible catastrophies etc., but it will make for great water cooler talk!
