Good book from an eye witness. While the book is more of a recounting of the writer's life surrounding his interaction with the Beatles and various Apple staff, it is interesting.

Great memories told by the man who made them, holding back little, it seemed. Though it was hard to hear/understand Burt due to his age and health. you could hear the emotion in his voice, even the tears. A man who never took himself too seriously.

Story
Gianni Russo was a handsome 25-year-old mobster with no acting experience when he walked onto the set of The Godfather and entered Hollywood history. He played Carlo Rizzi, and he didn't have to act - he knew the mob inside and out: from his childhood in Little Italy, where Mafia legend Frank Costello took him under his wing, to having to go on the lam after shooting and killing a member of the Colombian drug cartel in his Vegas club. Along the way, Russo befriended Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. Russo had passionate affairs with Marilyn Monroe and Liza Minelli....

What a life. What a story. My only question is - how much is true and how much is fiction? I mean, this man claims friendships with Marilyn Monroe (says they slept together), mob bosses, Frank Sinatra, and Marlon Brando. Claims he was used to payoff mobsters who assassinated JFK and was tortured and then kindly released by Pablo Escobar because he learned Russo was I his favorite movie, The Godfather. A ton of other escapades as well. If true, this ma has lived 10 lives. If true - great book. Hollywood must not believe it though or they'd have made a movie from this book.

the real scoop?
Reviewed: 04-02-20
I'm hoping Ms Lennon has given what should be the truest account of John Lennon. While it's common for a. ex-spouse to have a tendency to be wrongfully critical, her account is believable when you take in what others have written about him. People have a tendency to put idols on a lofty pedestal but Lennon was a reall man and had a few negative traits, the worst of which was abandoning his son, like his father abandoned him. Also. Yoko comes across what many have said about her - controlling and protective of her world. Good book.

Great book, though in the beginning, the book seemed to be a Beatles biography rather than one on Paul McCartney. But I guess that can't be helped. "And in the end.... it seems to be an unbiased account of our generations best song writer and the man who has kept the Beatles memory alive the past 50+ years.
