Absolutely amazing. A masterpiece. I'd venture to say if you haven't read NeuroTribes, you don't know anything about autism. I don't care if you are a psychologist, a psychiatrist, an autism specialist, a parent of a child with autism, or even an autistic person like myself. If you have not read this book, you do not understand the history of autism, the full scope of it, what people with autism have done in the past (little things like inventing computers and the Internet,) and the possibilities of what autistic people can do in the future. Yes, even your young nonverbal child who may have been labeled "low-functioning". Don't write us off or give up on us just because we are different. With proper support and understanding, autistic people can, have, and will continue to change the world!
The reader does a great job too, keeps it interesting without being distracting.

I listened to the first book years ago, and the story and performance were so beautiful the memory of it has stayed with me ever since. The original music is a perfect enhancement to the story. I can't wait to get the third book.

Fun story, but really the narrator is what makes this book so enjoyable. Her delivery, in impeccable Appalachia dialect, is mesmerizing and beautiful, almost musical. Getting the rest of the series now!

The reader did a great job, it definitely helped with the suspension of disbelief required for the story. I know that being in my late thirties I am not the target audience for this book, but I had a hard time swallowing the idea of a world famous assassin first of all, and then a world famous assassin who was only 17 years old. And the book never really explained that, or explained how it is that she got to be a household name as an assassin. I would think that a successful assassin would be one that nobody has ever heard of. Perhaps she became a household name by completing some very high-profile assassinations or something, but like I said, that was never explained, all of that took place before the book started. It's just assumed that she's the world's best assassin, at only 17 years old. I would have had an easier time believing it if the author had decided she was in her 20s or something. Giving her a few more years to practice her art form / skill or whatever. I also found the love triangle between the main character, the captain of the guard, and the prince to be a little contrived. This is one of those books that just asks us to take for granted that the main character is so exceptionally attractive and fascinating that practically every man she meets is falling head over heels in love with her. Also her temperament seemed kind of weird, she's very volatile and seems very unbalanced. She's constantly losing her temper and screaming and yelling or throwing things. I really don't know why these guys find that so attractive. I guess it's assumed that a woman who stands up to them rather than flirting and trying to get their attention is something so novel that they find it fascinating, but I just found it juvenile and annoying. It's more like a teenage girl's fantasy than it is any kind of a story with a basis in anything approaching reality. Yes, I know, it IS fantasy, that's why I was able to suspend disbelief, even as I rolled my eyes, and finish the book and gave it three stars. I will probably get the next book too. Because yes it is reasonably well written, even though as an adult there are things that make me roll my eyes and shake my head.

Amazing story, wonderfully descriptive. I love how the author highlights the differences between the two races, how each finds the other so alien and repulsive, yet how the two main characters are first united by their senses of humor, are able to find respect and friendship, which slowly blossoms into love, and then sexual attraction. I love how this happens gradually, realisticly, instead of like so many romance novels which focus on love at first sight. I love that their romance is built on a solid foundation of respect and friendship, and is able to endure hardship and only emerge stronger.
The reader does a great job for the most part, but seems to lisp occasionally? I wasn't sure if that was intended to signify an accent or if it was simply
vocal fatigue or something on the part of the reader.

I love this book, it's much better than the first of this trilogy, Fool's Assassin, which moved very slowly in the beginning and took a long time to really get interesting. This one was gripping and fascinating right from the start. I'm so glad to be once again adventuring with Fitz and the Fool. My only complaint is fairly minor, I found a couple of the voices the narrator chose, to be a little annoying. Lant always sounds like he is gritting his teeth in anger or frustration, and Reyn sounds very nasal and stuck up and supercilious. They were not pleasant to listen to and I had to fight not to dislike both characters just because of the voice the performer chose for them.

Fun fairy tale with excellent characters, a fascinating magical world with all kinds of different races (Imps, Jottnar, Fawns, Goblins, Trolls, Faeries, Jinn, and who knows how many more, each with a unique look and racial characteristics) a rollicking storyline with lots of twists and turns. I'm buying the whole series of 4 books. Great narrator too, does an excellent job with many different voices, I get lost in the story and forget that one person is doing all the voices.

Captivating, classic fairy tale, with a spirited, strong-willed princess, a half-breed faun with magical powers, bloodthirsty goblins, and I especially love the Princess's Aunt Cade, a dumpy, prissy middle-aged widow with a surprising adventurous streak. A fun story for all ages. I'm buying the sequel!
