Story
In a small back alley of Tokyo, there is a café that has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than 100 years. Local legend says that this shop offers something else besides coffee - the chance to travel back in time. Over the course of one summer, four customers visit the café in the hopes of making that journey. But time travel isn’t so simple, and there are rules that must be followed. Most important, the trip can last only as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold.

Do not wast your credit

This story starts out confusing and slow. The characters are not very likable and the names are very confusing. A story emerges in the last fourth of the book—-don’t wast your time time

Story
A gripping historical novel that tells the little-known story of Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai during WWII. 1939: Two young girls meet in Shanghai, also known as the “Paris of the East”. Beautiful local Li and Jewish refugee Romy form a fierce friendship, but the deepening shadows of World War II fall over the women as they slip between the city's glamorous French Concession district and the teeming streets of the Shanghai Ghetto. 2016: Fleeing London with a broken heart, Alexandra returns to Australia to be with her grandparents, Romy and Wilhelm.

Interesting slice of history

I enjoyed this story and learned more about the immigration of the Jews in the 1930’s. This only issue with this book is the needing was just unnaturally abrupt!

I am not sure if the story is good or not. The audiobooks ok is terrible. The narrator speaks so slowly and with no inflection, I sped her voice up to x2 and It did didn’t help.

Story
It's a time for getting cozy in front of whisky barrel wood fires and enjoying a dram and a treacle pudding with the people you love - unless, of course, you've accidentally gotten pregnant by your ex-boss and don't know how to tell him. In the season for peace and good cheer, will Flora find the nerve to reveal the truth to her nearest and dearest? Will her erstwhile co-parent, Joel, think she’s the bearer of glad tidings - or is this Christmas going to be as bleak as the Highlands in midwinter?

Sweet story but......

I enjoyed the story. It is a sweet story for Christmas time and the narrator is wonderful to listen to. My only issue with the story is the fact that one of characters describes his jerk of a brother by saying he is probably a Trump supporter and watches Fox News. I listen to audio books to escape the everyday issues. I don’t want partisan politics ruining my enjoyment of a good story. I will not be buying anymore books by this author.
