Story
I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Story
Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: To write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the 20th Century.

Story
Fifteen-year-old equestrian prodigy Roan Montgomery has only ever known two worlds: inside the riding arena and outside of it. Both, for as long as she can remember, have been ruled by her father, who demands strict obedience in all areas of her life. The warped power dynamic of coach and rider extends far beyond the stables, and Roan's relationship with her father has long been inappropriate. She has been able to compartmentalize that dark aspect of her life, ruthlessly focusing on her ambitions as a rider heading for the Olympics, just as her father had done.

Very hard listen and yet also so compelling, you can’t stop listening
Reviewed: 04-10-25
They’re going to be a lot of people that are gonna have a hard time with this book. However, it’s a story that probably needs to be told and was told beautifully even if the subject matter is horrendous. There were some comments about the primary character and how she responded to things that were happening that bothered some people, but in my experience when children are put in the position that she was put in, they become all of the things that this particular character is demonstrating. She is more advanced than her biological age, she is manipulative but what else would you expect?
This is a book that is going to stick with you. I don’t think I ever smiled when I was reading /listening to it and probably had a somewhat pained expression on my face. But it was 100% worth my time and energy. It’s hard to believe that this is a first novel for somebody. The horse parts of it were for the most part very accurate. The veterinary and medical details also very accurate. The amount of money is unbelievable, but I think that is the world that some people live in. Probably not eventers… :-) a young person should not read this book-the subject manner is too difficult. I don’t know how it’s possible to say that I love a book like this with the subject matter, but I do.
Narration was also wonderful.

Wow- fantastic story-great narration as well

This book was very important. I did not know the story of the nurses other than the romanticized version on M*A*S*H. I grew up as a child during the Vietnam war I knew it scared me, and I knew plenty of people that came back that were never the same-babysitter’s family, friends, some of the people had permanent damage to their bodies, others to their minds. I am so grateful that this story was written I literally could not stop listening until I finished it. Truly a wonderful listen. Probably one I will return to again.

Great narration and sweet if predictable story
Reviewed: 09-18-19
This is the type of book that is just easy. It’s a sweet story, yes, a love story and somewhat predictable but also about finding your own happiness as the book title implies. I really enjoyed it – I listen to books a lot and this one certainly brought a smile to my face. The narration was spot on and her voice was perfect for the character. It’s a bit short-but again, well worth my credit.

This is a terrible story, but fascinating- similar to Dr. Death and Dirty John. I am glad to hear more about it and what seems to be the result- strength and improvement in the gymnastics industry

Really good story- weaves between 3 generations of families connected by blood and secrets. I won’t give away much... but it is based on tensions between races in the Detroit area, with all the complexities that would entail. Wonderful narration and very easy to listen to. Very much enjoyed this pick!!

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Gripping and well performed audiobook

Gripping and well performed audiobook i’m not going to give anything away because I hate that… This book was very well performed. The story is not entirely realistic but that didn’t sway my anxiety when listening to it. I actually truly did have anxiety… And would turn it on even if I only had a few minutes. Really enjoyed it. Even if it cost me a little bit of anxiety :)
