Story
John Plaster’s riveting account of his covert activities as a member of a special operations team during the Vietnam War is “a true insider’s account...this eye-opening report will leave readers feeling as if they’ve been given a hot scoop on a highly classified project” (Publishers Weekly). Code-named the Studies and Observations Group, SOG was the most secret elite US military unit to serve in the Vietnam War - so secret that its very existence was denied by the government.

Amazing Recount of Heroism

An incredible recount of the much hushed history. The narrator makes the stories much more vivid than by me reading them. I couldn't get enough of it. I wish that more stories were told.

Story
In Vietnam, Christopher Goscha tells the full history of Vietnam, from antiquity to the present day. Generations of emperors, rebels, priests, and colonizers left complicated legacies in this remarkable country. Periods of Chinese, French, and Japanese rule reshaped and modernized Vietnam, but so too did the colonial enterprises of the Vietnamese themselves as they extended their influence southward from the Red River Delta.

A very comprehensive book about the VN history. I have learned much from it. Unfortunately, the VN names and geography were not pronounced with the correct tone thus leaving me with moderate amount of disappointment.

Story
In this landmark work that will forever change your understanding of how and why America went to war in Vietnam, author Fredrik Logevall taps newly accessible diplomatic archives in several nations and traces the path that led two Western nations to tragically lose their way in the jungles of Southeast Asia. He brings to life the bloodiest battles of France’s final years in Indochina - and describes how, from an early point, a succession of American leaders made disastrous policy choices that put America on its own collision course with history.

A very thorough, comprehensive review and analysis of the Vietnam War from the colonial struggle to its peak US involvement. Would have loved to hear more coverage from where the book ended to the end of the reunification period.

I was born and raised in South VN during the war and saw the influx of Americans as I experienced the war as a young kid. This book brings back much memories. I also joined, served, and retired from the US Army so I identify even more with the author. I could not stop listening; though the pronunciation of Adjutant threw me off every time I was said.

365 Days stands not only as a compelling account of this tragic conflict, but as a powerful antiwar statement. Nothing speaks so convincingly against the evils of war as the evils themselves. In this gripping account of the human cost of the Vietnam War, Ron Glasser offers an unparalleled description of the horror endured daily by those on the front lines.

Amazing Personal

Grew up in South Vietnam during the war and left there during the Fall of Saigon at the age of half past sixteen years, then joined the Army as a tanker 4 years later. The Army gave me the scholarship for medical school and I eventually became a physician. Having participated in the Balkan conflict, Iraq and Afghanistan wars; the author's accounts brings back vividly the brutal nature of war, and the hardhip that our war-fighters had to face. I just wish that I had read this book much earlier so that I could have been a better leader and more compassionate military physician.
