Story
It was a day like any other day for Marina Trahan...until she caught her husband in bed with another woman. Before that eye-opening wake-up call, Marina would have described her life as average or uneventful, maybe even boring. But now, chaos and confusion reign supreme. She’d expected to slide through midlife with her unwanted extra pounds, chin hair, and hot flashes and move somewhat gracefully into elastic-waist pants and having no verbal filter.

Cute and quick, another wonderful Jana DeLeon character and small town. Thank you Jana, my family's from the south makes me think of the stories I have heard about my family there.

<br />Typical Ann McCaffery with Elizabeth Scarborough.

Always enjoy a tale by Ann McCaffrey, she always puts the science in science fiction and intriguing concepts to think about. The idea of an actual thought of a planet that thinks for it's self is interesting.

Story
Strange things are happening on the icy planet of Petaybee. Unauthorized, genetically engineered species have been spotted, and the locals may be deliberately hiding something—perhaps even plotting rebellion. As a combat veteran and a medical retiree, Yana is the ideal person to get close to the natives. She is quickly adopted by the people of Petaybee, who feed her a home remedy that soothes her ragged lungs. Her strength and health return, and she becomes determined to protect her new home and her people from a greedy and increasingly ruthless corporation.

I enjoy the places that Anne McCaffrey takes me to and the characters she introduces me to. I love the science and imagination that combine in her tales. I read them over and over without being bored. The read is easy and can become addicting.

Story
It was one of Eve Dallas’s earliest takedowns, back in her uniform days. A monster named Isaac McQueen had been abducting young victims and leaving them scarred in both mind and body. Thanks to Eve, he wound up where he belonged, removed from civilized society in Rikers. But he’s not behind bars anymore. After his escape, McQueen has two things in mind. One is to take up where he left off, preying on the young and innocent - when necessary, with the help of a female partner all too willing to be manipulated and to aid and abet his crimes.

Always look forward to seeing what Eve is up to. Was not disappointed in the story. Narrator did well, the separation of characters was good.
