Story
This is the epic sea adventure, a harrowing tale of slavery and revolt aboard a Spanish ship, is often regarded as Melville's finest short story. The balance of forces is complete, the atmosphere one of epic significance, the light cast upon the hero intense to the highest degree, the realization of the human soul profound, and the telling of the story orchestrated like a great symphony.

One of Melville’s underrated books
Reviewed: 08-16-21
First read this in a college history class, pleasantly surprised to find a book by Melville that isn’t Moby Dick. Melville does a good job building an uneasy atmosphere on the boat that is almost gothic in its execution. Short length, so this book is easy to get through even in the middle of a semester. The narrator has a very deep voice, almost like an announcer, I don’t know if it fits the story.

Story
A carnival rolls in sometime after the midnight hour on a chill Midwestern October eve, ushering in Halloween a week before its time. A calliope's shrill siren song beckons to all with a seductive promise of dreams and youth regained. In this season of dying, Cooger & Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show has come to Green Town, Illinois, to destroy every life touched by its strange and sinister mystery.

Perfect fall season book
Reviewed: 08-11-21
Bradbury’s writing is very poetic, Hummel does a great job depicting the characters and their emotions at the given moments. I read this book every fall as I think it fits the season very well, but with my life getting busy- the audiobook works wonders to help get me through this book with my packed schedule.
