Story
You know the "prosperity gospel." The "name it and claim it gospel." The "political gospel". The messages being preached on at least 90 percent of religious television. But what about the Gospel? What was it the apostle Paul was "unashamed" of? Most Christians don't understand what the true Gospel of Jesus is. In our church sanctuaries pastors neglect to preach the fear of God and eternal punishment. Church communities have grown to believe that all are saved and none will be lost. Meanwhile many other Christians lack assurance of their own salvation and focus on sanctification as their only ticket to Heaven.

Story
Truth used to be based on reason. No more. What we feel is now the truest source of reality. Despite our obsession with the emotive and the experiential, we still face anxiety, despair, and purposelessness. How did we get here? And where do we find a remedy? Schaeffer's work takes on a newfound relevance today in his prescient anticipation of the contemporary postmodern ethos. His critique demonstrates Christianity's promise for a new century, one in as much need as ever of purpose and hope.

Hands down, the best!!
Reviewed: 02-18-24
Having listened to every English language audio bible, my expectations for this were pretty low. I’m actually amazed this isn’t more well known and unfortunately the publisher hasn’t done any more of the books of the Bible. This recording of Mark was done over ten years ago!! If I had the budget and know-how this production would be my ideal product. Simply amazing! Check it out!

Lutheran theology is glorious and mysterious. It is relatable and applicable. It is for everyone, in any time, in any place. But it also can be intimidating. A Martyr's Faith in a Faithless World serves as a starting point for those looking to start exploring theological works and deepen their understanding of Lutheran theology.

Excellent reminder that Christ calls us to suffer!!
Reviewed: 12-23-23
To suffer ,in the end, is to be blessed. A common thread in Jesus’ teaching is that His followers will suffer if they are faithful. This is reiterated by the rest of the New Testament also. This book makes use of scripture and history to show us that as followers of Jesus we should expect to be persecuted, but the glory that awaits us will far outweigh any amount of suffering. The writer must come from the Lutheran tradition ,as he quotes Luther a lot,but quotes are well placed and insightful. Great quick read or listen.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
The Devil, Satan, Lucifer, Mephistopheles - throughout history the Prince of Darkness, the Western world's most powerful symbol of evil, has taken many names and shapes. Jeffrey Burton Russell here chronicles the remarkable story of the Devil from antiquity to the present. While recounting how past generations have personified evil, he deepens our understanding of the ways in which people have dealt with the enduring problem of radical evil. Russell uncovers the origins of the concept of the Devil in various early cultures and then traces its evolution in Western thought from the time of the ancient Hebrews through the first centuries of the Christian era. Next he turns to the medieval view of the Devil, focusing on images found in folklore, scholastic thought, art, literature, mysticism, and witchcraft.

Drawing from several sources the author evaluates what or who the devil is. Much of the philosophical analysis far outshines many books devoted to philosophy. The reader is easy to listen to and uses proper pronunciation and good inflection throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book!

The Bible tells a story. The events of the Bible are exciting and awe inspiring, but often the story can get lost among the laws, genealogies, and poetry. Here, Dr. William Marty retells the entire story of the Bible in one accessible, chronological account. All the stories you remember, and many of those you don't, are part of one grand narrative. It's the must-listen story of God's pursuit of you - one you'll want to hear again and again.

The quintessential hellfire and damnation sermon that reportedly caused mass conversions and repentances. This used to be (and in some places still is) taught as part of the US high school American literature curriculum. Perhaps more controversial today than in 1741!

There are a few different readings of this sermon on Audible, this one is by far the best one. The reader does a good job of giving a somber and serious tone without being overly emotional. Jonathan Edwards supposedly read his sermons in a very monotone voice.
