Story
Kathy Izard was a graphic designer, wife, mother of four daughters, and volunteer at Charlotte’s Urban Ministry Center when an unlikely meeting with formerly homeless author Denver Moore changed the course of her life. Inspired by Denver’s challenge to do more than serve in this soup kitchen, Kathy quit her job to take on what seemed like an unimaginable task in her second half of life - to build housing for Charlotte’s homeless.

Fabulous book!
Reviewed: 08-14-19
I highly recommend The Hundred Story Home by Kathy Izard. Metropolitan Interfaith Association of Memphis is conducting a community wide read because of Izard’s profound messages. The narration was clear, but the phrasing and lack of pause between sentences was distracting and confusing at times. The writing was able to overcome this small hurdle though, and I hope many will read this important book.

A historical setting can't overcome chaste themes
Reviewed: 04-18-13
What would have made The Pillars of the Earth better?
The story is more of a torrid romance novel weighted down by rapes while set in a historical setting. The prelude allows the listener to hear the writer's explanation of why this isn't just a good book, but instead is a great one for the ages. If only the story had the depth to back up the claim...
Has The Pillars of the Earth turned you off from other books in this genre?
It will force me to look for stories with true plots as opposed to cheaply written tales of sex.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Pillars of the Earth?
The author devotes quite a lot of time to nipples. I'd advise the editor to start there.

A strong plot that plays with your emotions.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No - it's interesting for residents of the DC metro area but an odd an obtuse story line diminish the experience.
What does Paul Michael bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The reader was excellent.
