Story
Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

this brought comfort, especially if you have so many regrets or thought things would be different if you made a different decision this book was like, yeah that had an option of making your life worse. I appreciated that perspective. the main character is very relatable as well and you feel seen with having similar views on life.

Over the course of one summer, four customers visit the café in the hopes of making that journey. But time travel isn’t so simple, and there are rules that must be followed. Most important, the trip can last only as long as it takes for the coffee to get cold.

Story
In this exquisite story of family, food, grief, and endurance, Michelle Zauner proves herself far more than a dazzling singer, songwriter, and guitarist. With humor and heart, she tells of growing up one of the few Asian-American kids at her school in Eugene, Oregon; of struggling with her mother's particular high expectations of her; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul, where she and her mother would bond, late at night, over heaping plates of food.

Resonates with alot of mom/daughter relationships
Reviewed: 08-09-21
I read it as a recommendation of Jenn Im's curl up club, and absolutely loved it. The little ways they shared affection reminded me of my relationship with my mother. Especially how food and culture is really important to us who can barley speak our mother tongue. I loved how she viewed it as a way to build a stronger connection with her mother, before and even after her mother's death. This book highlights the rawness and hopelessness of loss and grief. The author did an amazing job at guiding the reader through her experience and her family's experience as well.

I love the characters but the major issue I was not a huge fan of. It seemed out of nowhere and I know it was for shock but the book was doing good without.. Still a good read though. I love the drama and vanity this book has. Very good chisme.
