Story
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

why do I keep trying Patterson? done now.

Why do I keep trying Patterson?
Well he is famous and a best selling author.
but he sucks, his storytelling is ok but there are a few huge problems in every one of his works.
In this book we have to take a drug gangs ledger as absolute truth that would hold up in any court, (hey drug dealers lie) the ledger is trash...
or a bullet train in a single city, would it Even reach speed? bullet trains are for between cities that are far apart.
or a prosecutor that breaks every law she can but no one says shit. evidences chain of custody, rich are above the law, intimidation with no reason.
sorry, but I hope I saved your time.... or sorry, I ruined the read for you.
I am done with Patterson's punishment s.

Dr. Abby Corman has a bold idea: open a stable doorway between our world and an uninhabited parallel Earth. A new world we can use to mine resources to end poverty, grow enough food to end all hunger, and allow for population growth to end overcrowding. What could be a more noble aspiration for a brilliant young scientist? But the path to hell is paved with good intentions....

The plot could have made a good story, but hearing the blatant mistakes, stupidity, and total lack of courage or confidence of the main character made this so bad I could not finish.

Story
Through his own writings and inspiration of Aristotle and countless others, Plato continues to influence every area of philosophic thought, to say nothing of his enormous influence on Christian theology. His dramatic dialogues, including Republic, the monumental treatise on the ideal state, render him one of the greatest of Greek literary geniuses. In this concise analysis, eminent Plato scholar A. E. Taylor examines the philosopher's theory of knowledge and doctrine of ideas; the ideal of the philosopher-king; the social system advocated in Republic; judgments on democracy; and belief in the immortality of the soul. Also considered: Plato's relationship with his master, Socrates; contribution to the idea of university education; attack on art; abstention from public life; anticipation of Copernicus. Taylor also mentions historical misunderstandings of the one he deems the most original and influential of all philosophers.

pompous
Reviewed: 12-13-21
The narration and content are extremely pompous, the funny part is these two, smarter than anyone, people routinely throughout the reading, misuse or mispronounce words. I actually was more amused by the clamoring to seem intelligent by both the narrator and author, they failed.

this review is of the reading of which the narrator adds a foul to the last word of each sentence and the writer has no idea what she's writing about as the captain pulls one of her crewmate from a hole and is wondering if they're alive she gets a shiver from a cold breeze who cares about a cold breeze I am very disappointed in this
