I couldn't listen 2 hrs before growing so upset at not only the inconsistencies, but the 'facts' not even being correct in a lot of places. I'm well aware that these aren't true stories. I am aware that myths have been interpreted by lots of people over the ages, but basic facts such as names of characters in said stories being so horribly confused?! Either no one edited the book, or no one paid attention to the narration.
If I hadn't already returned a different book, I would have gotten a credit refund. As it is, I don't even want this in my library, but can't find the option to remove it from said library! It's almost as though Audible knows how horrible this book really is, and is forcing me to keep it against my will.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city's ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

I specifically had been looking for a lighter story than Audible was initially recommending to me, and know of Travis Baldree through his narration of others books. Curiosity did not disappoint! Nice, rounded out characters, cohesive story that incorporated humor without drowning you in bad puns or dated references, and with enough resolution to be satisfied if it's a stand alone; though I can see how expansions could be appreciated as well.

Story
At the heart of a bizarre planet lay the goal of every being that had ever lived.… Below average in height and unprepossessing in appearance, Nathan Brazil is an unassuming if cynical starship owner, carrying passengers and cargo for a living - hardly the sort of person to hold the fate of the entire universe in his hands. But when Nathan detours from his route to answer a distress call, a hidden stargate hurls him and his passengers to the Well World, the master control planet for the cosmos. Billions of years ago, a godlike race unlocked all the secrets of space and time and remade the universe according to their grand design.

I LOVE stories, and was excited about the idea/concept of the book. I don't read reviews beforehand, so as to not color my opinion going in. I don't think that was a good idea this time around....
The story was going at a good pace until the main character gets transformed into a stag. Ok, not that big of a deal, until the author starts going into beastiality. Maybe the bit where he's in some kind of relationship with the girl is one thing, but I had to stop the book when the "Fairies" (more damn bugs) turn the whole travel party into mindless animals with the explicit intent of having the main character mindlessly assaulting the three "doe".
I'm not a prude, but that's triggering sh*t. I'm sure it resolves, but not before something awkward AF happens... I'm not interested.
It's like the author had some repressed kinks/fantasies they felt compelled to share. If I wanted porn of any genre, I wouldn't be trying to get it in such a convoluted, uncomfortable way.

Deborah Harkness’s sparkling debut, A Discovery of Witches, has brought her into the spotlight and galvanized fans around the world. In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

This dreck was so hard to listen to, I returned the book for a full refund after maybe 2-3 hrs of trying very hard to go further.
If it isn't droning on and on about absolutely nothing, then it's romanticizing an abusive relationship with a character that had no development...hell, none of the characters are developed enough, and whatever little plot it pretends to have is so diluted in purple prose, that nothing makes sense.

Story
Professional heroes kill and loot deadly monsters every day, but Gorm Ingerson's latest quest will be anything but business as usual. The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. That's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.
