Story
Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley is the first biography to go past that myth and present an Elvis beyond the legend. Based on hundreds of interviews and nearly a decade of research, it traces the evolution not just of the man but of the music and of the culture he left utterly transformed, creating a completely fresh portrait of Elvis and his world. This volume tracks the first 24 years of Elvis' life, covering his childhood, the stunning first recordings at Sun Records, and the early RCA hits.

Just not interesting.

For a true understanding of who Elvis was I would recommend listening to a book by someone who actually knew him. This is 60% filler and 40% recounts of stories written by his old school teachers and such. Slow paced, didn't hold my attention, and the book has the n word in it a few times which was jarring.
If you do want to know more about Elvis, I recommend Elvis and Me by Pricilla Presley.

Matt James' book First Impressions is an inspiring glimpse at the complex, gracious, and hardworking man beneath the turtleneck sweater.
Containing funny stories and painful memories alike, this book is full of lessons so impactful I had to pause the recording several times to just...absorb them.
My favorite part was him recounting his experiences in New York, shacking up with some interesting characters and meeting the kids that inspired him to start his nonprofit, ABC food tours- a story so moving I was actually *angry* that it was barely mentioned on the show! It gave me a whole new understanding of who Matt is.
If you're a fan of the bachelor, this book is for you. if you're a fan of heartfelt memoirs, this book is for you. If you're a human being who is looking around at your life thinking you'll never make it out of the rut you're in, this book is for you! Matt James' First Impressions is about race, family, and faith, but mostly, it's about the power of knowing your own self worth.
