I did the Audible. . Colleen Marlo did a great job narrating. Dianne Kelly writes with mystery, comedy and a touch of romance in all her Paw books. A very light read it you want to giggle a bit at the antics of Bridget the police canine.

This story from the Forward Collection is a great story. Would you decide to stay on Earth if you had a way off to be able to survive? The narrator from Audible was one of the better female ones I have listened to.and I highly recommend. All the books in this series are very good and short stories.

Story
What will become of our self-destructed planet? The answer shatters all expectations in this subversive speculation from the Hugo Award - winning author of the Broken Earth trilogy. An explorer returns to gather information from a climate-ravaged Earth that his ancestors, and others among the planet’s finest, fled centuries ago. The mission comes with a warning: A graveyard world awaits him. But so do those left behind - hopeless and unbeautiful wastes of humanity who should have died out ages ago.

This was a quick book. I listened as an audio book. While listening I thought I had it figured out when binary was used but it was a surprise ending. Another good sci-fi book by Paul Tremblay. He always gives room for thought.

Story
Ike Randolph has been out of jail for fifteen years, with not so much as a speeding ticket in all that time. But a Black man with cops at the door knows to be afraid. The last thing he expects to hear is that his son Isiah has been murdered, along with Isiah’s white husband, Derek. Ike had never fully accepted his son but is devastated by his loss. Derek’s father Buddy Lee was almost as ashamed of Derek for being gay as Derek was ashamed his father was a criminal. Buddy Lee still has contacts in the underworld, though, and he wants to know who killed his boy.

How much prejudice is truly within us? The narrator read at a slow speed but it did add to the story. I recommend this book to those that enjoy stories that can actually be real life. My interest is peaked to read more from this author. It was an exciting read, not my usual thriller books. I'm glad I randomly chose this author.
