I’m REALLY picky, never give 5 stars, and I hate to over rate it, but I listened to this non-stop for 3 days…a little over the top and totally not realistic, but kept my interest and trying another one by this author

I don’t understand all the rav reviews. I usually love rom coms and Emily Henry, but this one just drug on and on with nothing happening. I suppose there was a small twist, but not enough to make up for the rest of snoozeville. Also, a lot of crying and whining. Kind of annoyed me

Annoying accents

I like this narrator, but she way over does it on the foreign accents for some of the characters. Just talk normal! Her natural Australian accent is so much better than when she tries to do other voices. Almost couldn’t finish it because it was just so much. Took away from the story, which was already average at best.

I usually like historical fiction, especially WWII era. But this one wasn’t my favorite. I got confused about the characters and the author jumps around without warning on the timeline, so you’re wondering when something happened and if you missed something. I found myself drudging through to the end anxious for it to be over. Not sure why it’s gotten so much hype. Main saving grace was that narrator did not annoy me. All in all a solid 3.

Narration was great by Julia Whelan, as usual. Took a few chapters to get into it, but then I was hooked. Nice little surprise at the end. I recommend this one!

Maybe it was the narration that annoyed me. All of the characters were annoying. The character names were annoying. This one just didn’t hit for me - took me longer than usual to get through it.

Couldn’t get past the male narrator. He sounds like a serial killer the whole time. returning this one.

I read the first book in this series (like actually read it, crazy I know) and really liked it, But this one just dragged on…and on…and on. Maybe it was the narrator that was annoying, but the storyline was just boring and cheesy. Normally I finish audible books in 2-3 days, but this one took me at least a week if not more and I found myself dreading listening to it.

So so good. Once you get past the teen years, this book surprised me so many times. And I thought I could no longer be surprised. Docked one star for performance for the female voice - not my favorite, but tolerable (and I’m very picky).

Julia Whelan is my favorite narrator. She can make even trash sound interesting, but this book is just not good. I’m bummed to not give it 5 stars and confused by all the good reviews. I just could not get into it and the names were SO ANNOYING. “Blah” for the grandma? And the long A name…come on?!? Trying too hard. Skip this one
