Tremendous story of courage

The story is true, the adventure real, and the courage of the protagonist to survive for so long at sea is very uplifting. The narrator is very good, the mental images intense, and I felt like I was in the lifeboat with the hero. For sheer excitement and a constant feeling of an unkown foreboding or terror just below the surface or beyond the horizon, this book and this reading would be hard to beat. Highly recommended!

It is the dramatic expose of the Chicago meat-packing industry at the turn of the century which prompted an investigation by Theodore Roosevelt, culminating in the pure-food legislation of 1906. The Jungle is the story of Jurgis Rudkus, a Slav immigrant, who marries frail Ona Lukoszaite and seeks security and happiness as a workman in the Chicago stockyards.

A very good listening experience

The Jungle is a great story and this telling was a very rewarding experience. This was my first Audible book and I was impressed with the quality of the narration. Wonderful images!
