Story
At ten years old, Chelsea opened a lemonade stand and realized she’d make more money if the drinks were spiked. So she added vodka to her recipe and used her earnings to upgrade herself to first-class on a family vacation—leaving her parents and siblings in coach. She moved to Los Angeles and got fired from her temp job when she admitted she didn’t know how to transfer calls. She’s played pickleball with the scions of an American dynasty. She’s sexted a governor. She shared psychedelics with strangers in Spain.

Story
My husband is missing. And his wife is on my doorstep. The wife I never knew he had. Does that mean my husband’s out looking for wife number three? The more I dig...the more I find. Ledger Stone is not the man I thought I knew. What I'd thought was a whirlwind romance has turned out to be a hurricane laced with lies. It started with one. Will it end with another?

The dialogue wasn’t terrible but also wasn’t great. The story was full of suspense and my predictions weren’t spot on so it did keep me guessing.

Story
Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson. Before they were household names, these budding legends called Sue’s Nashville apartment—lovingly dubbed the “Boar’s Nest”—home. Sue’s place was an intimate staging ground where a new breed of singer-songwriters—wounded souls, wayward upstarts—would spur each other on to tap into something bigger, realer.

Such a beautiful tribute. I hope there are still Sue Brewers out there, shooting aspiring artists straight and giving them a soft place to fall. What an incredible woman! She deserves a biopic.

Story
In The Furies, Elizabeth Flock examines how three real-life women have used violence to fight back, and how views of women who defend their lives are often distorted by their depictions in media and pop culture. These three immersive narratives follow Brittany Smith, a young woman from Stevenson, Alabama, who killed a man she said raped her but was denied the protection of the Stand-Your-Ground law; Angoori Dahariya, leader of a gang in Uttar Pradesh, India, dedicated to avenging victims of domestic abuse; and Cicek Mustafa Zibo, a fighter in a thousands-strong all-female militia...

The atrocities women around the world face just for being a woman are unimaginable. And I realize that being a woman in the US is probably best case scenario. But hearing of the oppression women face just over my state line is infuriating. This book left me angry. And sad. But it also shone a bright light on issues we all, male or female, should be fighting against. Thank you for sharing these women’s stories.

Story
In this fascinating narrative, therapist Catherine Gildiner presents five of what she calls her most heroic and memorable patients. Among them: A successful, first-generation Chinese immigrant musician suffering sexual dysfunction; a young woman whose father abandoned her at age nine with her younger siblings in an isolated cottage in the depth of winter; and a glamorous workaholic whose narcissistic, negligent mother greeted her each morning of her childhood with "Good morning, Monster". Each patient presents a mystery, one that will only be unpacked over years.

I’m shocked. As a parent I can’t begin to imagine my children suffering the horrors these did. My heart broke for each of them. But there is beauty in all of the ugliness they endured. Listening to their stories of bravely navigating their pasts to rise from the ashes is nothing short of inspiring.

Story
In his early 20s, Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, rose to the heights of fame and power in the cutthroat music business. A decade ago, the multi-platinum selling rap artist decided to pivot. His ability to adapt to change was demonstrated when he became the executive producer and star of Power, a high-octane, gripping crime drama centered around a drug kingpin's family. The series quickly became "appointment" television, leading to Jackson inking a four-year, $150 million contract with the Starz network - the most lucrative deal in premium cable history.
