Story
When Robert’s mother dies, his whole world caves in on him. Fatherless, he has no one, and nowhere to go. The royal mage shows him kindness by putting him on the royal guard as a “boot” to keep a roof over his head. Robert’s quick wit and willingness to help others serve him well in the guard. He becomes friends with the king’s second son, Randal, who was placed in the guard by the king to teach him discipline. As he ages, he develops mage abilities but keeps them secret. While on a weekend pass in the city, Robert saves Randal’s life and is rewarded by being made Randal’s liegeman.

Story
Shane Collins and Lucas Maddox are the last two US Marshals after a global cataclysm that destroyed most of modern civilization. They're still on the job, fighting the good fight, although they're no longer fully human and maybe not entirely sane. Witches and werewolves were not covered in their training as US Marshals. Then again, neither was the Apocalypse.

Story
Rory Quinn is a New York police officer who enjoys chasing women, drinking hard, and beating the crap out of bad guys. He's used to waking up with hangovers that leave most people curled around a toilet. But that all changes after one drunken night of revelry. Instead of a bathroom floor, he wakes up to find he's been dead for 500 years. And if that ain’t enough, the earth he knew is long gone. Zombies, cataclysmically evil robots, and techno-demons seem to be the least of his problems, as they all pale compared to his crazy immortal ex-wife!

Truly a very enjoyable read - It should be classified as a Space Opera with a dash of "We Are Legion" thrown in. Broad of scope, this epic listen crosses the decades of time and space, and offers a wildly fun ride with a diverse cast.
So, take out your wallet. Pull out your Audible credit. Blow the dust off of it, and use it on this great audio book.

- Narrator does it justice
- The second book in the series is waiting for you, and it's worth it.
- Lots of fun, and a great romp that blends scifi and fantasy.
